In December, as part of the live broadcasts, the world premiere of the opera The Hours by composer Kevin Puts will be presented, which is an adaptation of the famous novel by Michael Cunningham, which also served as the model for the Oscar-winning film of the same name. In an atmosphere of excited anticipation, soprano Renée Fleming returns to the stage of the Metropolitan Opera. Along with Kelli O'Hara, also a soprano, and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, she portrays the characters of three women from different eras who struggle with inner rages and society's expectations. The urgent operatic drama is directed by Phelim McDermott, who recently had a huge success at the Met with Philip Glass's production of Akhenaten. Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct the performance of Puts' captivating music.
