Inspired by figures such as Woody Guthrie, Mississippi John Hurt and Dave Van Ronk, he soon began performing publicly. His interest in traditional and world music led him to study ethnomusicology and to a deeper understanding of musical cultures across continents. He began his musical career in the 1970s as a traveling busker - he traveled with his guitar throughout the United States and many other countries. His style ranges between blues, folk, ragtime, swing, country, and also Mexican corridos. He has released several original albums, the most important of which are Milk Cow Blues (1988), Street Corner Cowboys (1995) and Hitchhiking With the Blues (2000). They all bear his typical traits – masterful guitar playing, deep knowledge of the genre and an authentic approach to musical tradition.

22/11/25, 19:00 / Divadlo Na Orlí (Na Orlí Theatre)

A fabricated trial through the lens of the online world.

The judicial murder of M. Horáková is one of the darkest chapters in our modern history. The chamber opera Tomorrow Will Be… does not attempt a literal reconstruction, but opens up a broader perspective. Could a similar tragic story take place today? Although M. Horáková's suffering cannot be compared to anything, can the anonymous online space become a modern courtroom?

The Addams Family

23/11/25, 14:00 / Hudební scéna Městského divadla Brno (Music Theatre)

A mysterious, gloomy house in a secluded area outside the city near a cemetery. Here lives the somewhat peculiar Addams family, whose members delight in creepy and morbid humor. Their favorite color is black and they consider death to be the most beautiful thing in life. However, the Addams family's daily, terrifying routine changes drastically when young Wednesday brings her new boyfriend Lucas. Lucas' parents are also scheduled to visit this demonic household, and Wednesday, who is in love and has been replaced, demands that her relatives behave normally. Like normal people - that is, completely different from what they are used to. The members of the strange Addams family first appeared in 1938 in a comic strip by Charles Addams, and their stories were then published in The New Yorker magazine for five decades until the author's death in 1988. Charles Addams drew over 1,300 comic strips during his life.

The phenomenon of children's and adult music is back with their seventh album, which doesn't play with anything, but plays with everything. New songs that are "swift, swinging, educational and most importantly fun", as the band's frontman and founder Michal Dalecký says. A perfect cocktail of fun, energy and unmistakable humor for both children and parents.

Nabucco

23/11/25, 18:00 / Janáčkovo divadlo (Janáček Theatre)

How high is the price for trying to be a good ruler and build a great empire? The basis of Verdi's opera is the Old Testament story of the captivity of the Jewish people by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar and their desire to return to their homeland. A story that still does not lose its power and relevance, and whose personification is the famous chorus "Va, pensiero, sull'alidorate" (Fly, thought, on golden wings...). Like other Verdi works, however, Nabucco also hides another, more intimate layer about love, the two sisters Fenena and Abigail and their conflict for the love of their beloved man and father. Verdi portrayed everything with the feeling of a true playwright, and the music full of immediacy, passion and temperament rightly captivates the audience to this day.

Marie Puttnerová / Taylor Eigsti Group ft Becca Stevens

24/11/25, 19:30 / Cabaret des Péchés

Marie Puttnerová – One of the most beautiful voices on the Czech scene. But not only that. We have a number of singers who are brilliant performers and vocal art is the alpha and omega of everything they do. Marie Puttnerová is a completely different case. She also “thinks something” and “says something important” with her singing. Taylor Eigsti Group ft Becca Stevens – If we have a chance to see a couple on stage who have only come together on three albums, but two of them have won Grammys, there is probably no stronger recommendation to attend such an exceptional soirée.

Stacey Lee “You have an amazing voice,” said world star Adele herself when she met Stacey Lee in person on the British TV show “Adele At The BBC.” Stacey Lee impressed Adele and the audience, her voice was amazingly similar to the famous singer on the jury! They both had the same local accent, as they both grew up just a few meters apart in Tottenham, North London!

HM...

24/11/25, 20:00 / Kabinet múz (The Cabinet of Muses)

HM... Alternative indie-folk band Hm..., which is known on the Czech club scene mainly for its sensitive and entertaining musical setting of the poetry of Antonín Sova, Josef Kainar and Ivan Blatný. However, the latest album Nevadí, released on the Polí5 label, was built by band members Marek Doubrava, Viktor Ekrt, Filip Nebřenský and Jaroslav Noga on original material. Eight of the twelve lyrics were contributed by multi-instrumentalist and composer Marek Doubrava, who was led to write more of his own lyrics by the desire to communicate directly with people at a concert. Nevadí, like all previous albums, was recorded by Hm... with Ondřej Ježek at the JáMor studio.

Jiří Stivín – musician and photographer

25/11/25, 19:30 / Divadlo Husa na provázku (Goose on a String Theatre)

The eccentric flautist in the cap has been, and still is, a kind of visual "logo" for decades, the embodiment of Czech jazz, even at the age of eighty-two. This is despite the fact that for most of his life Jiří Stivín has transcended this narrow box in all sorts of directions. For example, in addition to music, his lifelong passion is photography, as we will see at the retrospective exhibition at JazzFestBrno.

Belzebong (PL) + Sloth

25/11/25, 20:00 / Kabinet múz (The Cabinet of Muses)

BELZEBONG (PL) The loudest riffs, fuzzy guitars, stoner, doom and metal heavy psychedelia. Hypnotic live performances have made the Polish Belzebong an underground legend of the muddy sound of sludge groove swamps and green smoke. Belzebong have a number of acclaimed albums to their credit such as Sonic Scapes & Weedy Grooves, Greenferno or Light the Dankness and a number of tours in Europe and the USA. They are currently working on a new album, where we expect at least the same uncompromising sound of deep riffs and psychedelic melodies that we are used to from these worshippers of bongos and loud guitars.

Nutcracker

The story of a little girl, Klárka, which takes place on Christmas Eve, takes us first into the real world of a rich Christmas celebration and then into the realm of Klárka's dreams. The version by Canadian choreographer Fernand Nault was created in 1964 and has been performed every winter by Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal since then. Its strengths include a fresh rhythm, a smooth sequence of individual scenes and images, but especially a magnificent theatrical and costume design that captivates children with its richness and color. Enter the world of magic with us and let yourself be carried away on a sleigh through a snowy landscape. Dance among the snowflakes until you arrive in the Kingdom of Candy, where you will be welcomed by the King himself. On our fairy tale journey, together with The Nutcracker, you can look forward to almost a hundred different characters and figures interpreted by soloists and members of the NdB Ballet, students of the Brno Dance Conservatory and the I. V. Psoty Ballet School. A ballet fairy tale for the whole family about the magic of Christmas Eve.

Children of the Rain experience a big bang with every second and their blood bond, tied with wires, roars to the whole world: this sound of MAKÁ. And beware: when it comes to family, they don't know their brother.

The Jackal Years

28/11/25, 19:00 / Hudební scéna Městského divadla Brno (Music Theatre)

The Jackal Years is set in Prague's Dejvice in the late 1950s, living peacefully in its "small town" way in the shadow of the red star at the top of the International Hotel. One day, a young man named Bejby bursts into the world of parents living with the everyday worries of early socialism and their children, whose sense of the "outside world" is determined by the exotic contents of the hotel's trash cans. The innocent dustman causes a stir with his eccentric clothing and passion for "unknown" rock and roll rhythms; the youth are thrilled and the parents despair. Bejby's appearance, amplified in the story by the rock and roll hits of Ivan Hlas, which have now become popular (such as Jednu mi fotr požiadě, Na kolena or Rock'n'roll pro Beethovena), thus marks a key turning point in the lives of a generation of boys. The popular story of dreaming about a different, better world beyond the limits of a desperately gray reality appears on the stage of the Music Stage in our original production and musical adaptation. It is directed by Stanislav Slovák.
