OS: Joys From Lost
Female and male duet, two guitars, cajon. We mainly focus on rock music. We intersperse covers with our own creations - or vice versa.
Eliška/Rejčka
The world premiere tells the story of two women. The Czech Queen Eliška Přemyslovna, mother of the Father of the Fatherland Charles IV, and her great rival, Eliška Richenza, called the Czech Rejčka, the richest woman in Europe at the time. Two contemporaries wanted the same thing, personal happiness in a contented country. Each tried to achieve it in her own way and often each was the biggest obstacle to the other and at the same time each had to fight with herself. A historical fresco about the fact that when two women do the same thing, it is not the same.

Festival Uprostřed: Elsewhere
Elsewhere is a dynamic musical collective, based in the Vysočina / Brno region. They blend genres and create a kaleidoscopic experience, rooted in improvisation and collective emotions. Their music defies categorization and effortlessly combines elements of indie, pop, alternative and jazz. The band consists of Jiří Šefl (guitar and vocals), Sára Suková (keyboards and vocals), Lenka Titzová (drums, percussion and vocals) and Jakub Mička (bass and synthesizer). Their diverse musical experiences and knowledge allow them to create soundscapes that are both sophisticated and spontaneous, embodying the essence of their artistic exploration. The connection and chemistry began to manifest in the improvisation that refined their style and led to the creation of music that resonates with the shared experiences of those who feel “outside” in this chaotic world. Join us on a journey beyond the ordinary: Let yourself be guided by “Elsewhere!”

The musical IN THE MIDDLE
JAMU students reimagine old local Brno stories in their own image. Using today's language, a cheeky and unbridled interpretation of youth, we look back to ancient times when everything was completely different and yet a bit the same. A dynamic short story in which a multitude of characters alternate in an entertaining and dynamic interpretation by five young actors. Violin, cajon and guitar, the tempo is more than dizzying, the wilderness is exuberant. Author and director: Dodo Gombár Production design: Kateřina Vojáčková Music: collective Performers: Terezie Vosáhlová, Irena Freudenschussová, Máří- Magdalena Fotrová, Václav Holinka, Jan Augustin.

Parthenope's appearance can enchant anyone who sees her, but she does not want to be a mere symbol of fleeting beauty and sets out on a journey of discovery. In the process, she falls in love with the southern Italian metropolis and the locals, whose destinies are inextricably linked to the history of Naples. Oscar winner Paolo Sorrentino (The Great Beauty) has made a magnificent film treatise on human beauty and its power, but also a love letter to his hometown.

Night at Karlštejn
The original comedy by Jaroslav Vrchlický, which was later made into a famous film, premiered at the National Theatre in 1884 and soon became very popular. Its fame grew even more after 1973, when Zdeněk Podskalský made a film musical comedy of the same name, which is already part of the golden fund of Czech cinematography. It doesn't matter that the plot, according to which women were not allowed to enter Karlštejn, is just a legend. The charter from 1357, which probably inspired Vrchlický, only states: "We forbid anyone to sleep or lie with any woman, even if she is a lawful wife, in the tower of Karlštejn Castle, in which the chapel is located." The only restriction, therefore, concerned the sacred chapel of the Holy Cross, otherwise the castle was accessible to women. However, popular stories do not have to be based on a true basis. The romantically idealized and humorous story from the life of the father of the country became immortal thanks to the film adaptation with such actors as Vlastimil Brodský, Waldemar Matuška, Miloš Kopecký, Karel Höger, Jana Brejchová and Jaroslav Marvan, for whom the role of the burgrave was his last film work. The audience appeal is also guaranteed by the now popular songs with melodies by Karel Svoboda.

Roman Hampacher
Roman Hampacher is a musician, pastor and dreamer whose roots extend far beyond the borders of folk. He has been on the scene for more than 25 years and has gone through many different groups before finally - at least for a while - anchoring himself in the waters of indie folk. Since 2018, he has been releasing his recordings with iron regularity, including his latest Stromen (2023), a conceptual recording about the landscape and the way out of the city. Roman's music is based on an acoustic guitar, to which he frequently uses various "hejblats" including a looper, and so, although he is mostly alone on stage, he manages to create an impressive atmosphere and draws his listeners into the colorful colors of his worlds. And the second integral component are the lyrics of the poet Mirka Hedbávná from Třebíč.
Currently an eight-member formation crossing the borders of the Moravian-Romanian-Indonesian Babylon and creating their own songs of various branches of reggae, ska and Latino. The band has more than fifteen years of history and hundreds of concerts not only throughout the Czech Republic, but also foreign stays in Austria, Poland, Italy and Slovakia. In 2021, the band's work seeped into all digital music platforms, where you can taste both new and older hits. Reggay dealt with the worsening epidemic situation by recording an epic album, resulting in the CD Let's Party. Almost a year later, the band again closed itself in the bowels of the atomic bunker with a studio and planted 3 new seeds on the so-called 'JUST ONE TAKE'.

Festival Uprostřed: Ride of Kings
Folklore is complex and needs to be sensitively woven / rewoven into the rhythm of today’s “folk” – social life. In contemporary folklore, many narratives and voices (including the LGBTQIA+ community) fail to find appropriate representation. The inclusivity / exclusivity of folklore is our starting point for exploring the ritual performance: Ride of Kings. We focus on the ritual surrounding the Ride of Kings, inspired by an in-depth exploration of one of the key aspects of the ritual: transformation. The performance will be preceded by a workshop that creates a safe space for inclusive discussion on the themes of transformation and LGBTQIA+ representation in folklore. The ritual performance is a collaboration between Sonya Darrow (folk artist & sociologist), David Severa (designer and artist), Jan Bražina (designer and artist), and the Drag Kings collective (Rudy Daddy, Chad Clitt, Tommie Foolerie). The program is part of the folk-art movement: Folklore’s Not Dead. The performance and workshop Ride of Kings will take place in Tyršov Park on July 12th from 2:00 PM.

The year is 1994, a small town in central Scotland. Best friends Johnno and Spanner share a strong bond. But now they are on the verge of adulthood and their paths in life are parting ways: Johnno moves to a better life in another city and Spanner will have to face an uncertain future on his own. But the upcoming summer will be different for them and for the entire country. Britain is experiencing an explosion of the free party scene and the birth of the largest countercultural youth movement in modern history. The boys, yearning for adventure and escape, decide to do one last thing together and go to an illegal rave. They steal money from Spanner's older brother and, under the vague guidance of D-Man, a DJ from a pirate radio station, enter an underworld characterized by anarchy, freedom and head-on confrontation with the forces of order. Beats tells a universally relatable coming-of-age story set against a backdrop of music as eclectic and electrifying as the scene it spawned. It's a contemporary tale of friendship, defiance, and the irresistible power of youth.

Štěpán Markovič & Gipsy Groove
One of the most prominent Czech jazzmen, Štěpán Markovič (saxophone), accompanied by the phenomenal funky band Gipsy Groove (rhythm from Gulo Čar). Their joint album won the Anděl Award in 2003 for the best album in the world music category. Štěpán Markovič accompanied an incredible number of Czech and foreign stars. It is impossible not to mention his collaboration with Ray Charles and Liza Minnelli; he recorded an album with Bill Clinton. His project “Štěpán Markovič Gipsy Groove” brings a concrete idea of the jazzman's excellent feeling for combining different musical genres.

Szidi Tobias & Band
The Slovak singer is one of the most prominent personalities of chanson not only in Slovakia, but also in the Czech Republic, where she is often associated with the name of the emerging Hana Hegerová. Her charisma and specific timbre of her voice are a combination for a strong artistic experience. This is achieved by a feeling for combining music with an emphasis on detail and capturing the moment, so that each of the songs turns into a small theatrical performance with a captivating atmosphere with an exceptionally strong emphasis on content and message. In the songs of Szidi Tobias we find an ideal combination of text and music in the excellent interpretative performances of the band Szidi Tobias & Band. Their joint repertoire includes compositions from the author's workshop of Milan Vyskočáni, the author of the lyrics is Peter Lipovský.

The 1950s. American William Lee (Daniel Craig) spends his long days alone in the hot streets of Mexico City. But his life changes when he meets Eugene. The young student ignites a new passion in him, but William's love also brings with it a lot of uncertainties and question marks. Festival Uprostřed: Caramel
The sad guys from Brno blend melancholic lyrics with heavy rhythms in their music, balancing on the edge of emo rock and post punk. They debuted on the scene with their EP Labutě, which reflected the Covid crisis and addressed the topic of separation between lovers during the lockdown and closed borders. Since then, they have released several singles and the EP Terapie, where they mainly experimented with the blending of genres/sounds. The latest single Jizvy focuses on the topic of self-love. Why not start loving all those scars that adorn our bodies?

Hundreds of Beavers
A story from a ruthless time when nature was still untamed and full of danger, it tells the story of an apple cider distiller who loses everything, finds himself with his backside bare in the wilderness and must gradually level up to become the best woodsman far and wide. In doing so, he will measure his wit, strength and tenacity not only against the elements, but also against a strange animal, led by the titular hundreds of beavers. The survival story told in a video game revives the genre of silent slapstick for the new millennium. In this much more entertaining and imaginative paraphrase of The REVENANT, instead of DiCaprio, a modern Buster Keaton fights for survival, and his animal opponents are portrayed by people in full-body plush costumes in the style of Studio Kamarád.

Dan Bárta & Illustratosphere
Dan Bárta, an eleven-time winner of the Anděl Award in the categories Singer of the Year and Singer of the Quarter Century, became widely known in the 1990s with the band Alice and his performance in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. He also became an integral part of the cult J.A.R. His broad musical outlook was used from the danceable Sexy Dancers to popular songs from films (including Snowboarders, Rafťáci, Horem pádem) to jazz associated with, for example, the Robert Balzar trio. He left his distinctive mark on a number of other domestic musical projects and also performed with the greats of the world music scene (for example, with the phenomenal singer Bobby McFerrin or with Sting's court guitarist Dominik Miller).
