Samhain III + Lichočar + Sukuba ensemble
Lichočar was born at the end of the summer of 2018. A mandolin player was rummaging through Slavic mythology and this word popped into her head. Together with two friends, a flutist and a singer, they decided that they wanted to find out what or who could be called that. Lichočar. Is it a demon? A malicious goblin? A ghost? That's how stories began to emerge, both written and musical, inspired by one made-up word, driven by curiosity. In addition to classical musical instruments such as the guitar, flute, cello or (octave) mandolin, you can also hear instruments that are otherwise rather unusual in Moravia in lichočar songs - for example, the Indian shruti box, the Celtic harp, the Irish bodhran, the shaman drum, the brumla, the kalimba... And recently, the Turkish davul. Polyphonic female singing in various European languages or dialects is also typical for them. The band finds inspiration in old stories, mythology and folklore of different countries, but through group improvisations, searching and experimenting, we create our own music. The result is a sound that balances between folklore and alternative, between delicate melody and rawness.
