HLUK #3: Bariel & TMA, Vision of 1994, rlung

03/03/22, 19:00

HLUK is a series of music evenings focused on experimental electronics produced by domestic independent labels. A regular part is a discussion with the guests, this year with a focus on music media and music journalism within the grant call Artistic and Cultural Criticism funded by the EEA / Norway Funds.
The final of the three programs prepared in 2021/2022 will take place on March 3 in the partner club Bajkazyl Brno. Admission to the event is free.

LIVE SETS:

BARIEL & TMA
The millennial with a love of blending electronic music with analog synthesizers, musician and producer Jakub Baierl (Meta Monde, YOGA Kolektiv) will join in another incarnation called Bariel with multimedia programmer and music magician Tomáš Martínek (TMA), who also stood at the birth of the Prague community label Bad Names. From their joint live set, we can expect to fly through various moody universes - from ambient with fragments of recordings of the urban environment to deep, pulsating beats and club music encouraging them to dance.

RLUNG
Iana Koroleva is an electronic producer originally from Russian Asbestos, whose music is based primarily on ambient subgenres and minimalism, without hesitating to incorporate elements of noise or dense basses and beats. Post-club echoes appear from behind the atmospheric surfaces on her debut Nontemporary, reflecting her personal experience with the dynamic world of the South Taiwanese metropolis of Kaohsiung. It was released by the Czech label Secret press, which specializes in "mind-changing ambient and meditative drones." Her latest album, Seven Stones, was released by Florentine Biodiversità Records. He also draws on field recordings this time from Japan, to which the concept of the whole album is connected.

VISION OF 1994 (dj set)
The mysterious ambient electronics hidden under the name Vision of 1994 form another musical identity of the Klatovy producer and DJ Karel Průcha (formerly Silhouette, Chik). The idea for the project came from listening to one track from the workshop of the now domestic label Harmless Youth, which prompted him to remix in the style of 90's jungle music. His style constantly oscillates between pensive, melancholic tracks, where he makes extensive use of field recordings and deep / acid techn.
As a DJ, he is interested in everything from IDM, breakbeat, house music to experimental electronics and field recordings. Earlier as Silhouette, he released the album Lost in the Circle on the Krmelec Recordings label and at the end of 2021 his second album Hůrka (Dolec label) inspired not only by sound research of the Šumava landscape. He co-wrote with Harmless Youth with the EP Every Path Leads Back Home and the recording Concrete Memories (2020), which reflects memories of childhood and adolescence in an effort to capture the feelings of growing up in a panel housing estate.

DISCUSSION:
The whole evening will start with a discussion on 19:00, which will focus on the topic of financing independent (not only music) media. The guests of the debate, again moderated by the editors of the AlterEcho music platform, will be Klotylda Marková for Deník Alarm, Michal Pařízek (Full Moon Magazine) and Zdeněk Neusar (frontman.cz).

ORGANIZERS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT
The partner club BAJKAZYL BRNO is a space for culture, city cycling and unusual activities of various specializations. It offers space to associations that behave ethically and environmentally, but above all it brings to the city a culture that is not a traditional middle stream.
The AlterEcho music platform and the follow-up project, which includes a series of three HLUK music and discussion evenings, is financed from 80% of the total budget in 2021 by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway (subsidy amount CZK 480,000). Due to pandemic measures, the project was extended until March 31, 2022.
We thank the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Czech Music Fund Foundation for further support. The Life of an Artist Foundation also provided a contribution to the organization of the HLUK music and discussion series, which enabled the event to be created and the first edition to be realized in December 2019.
