musical biography of Karol Duchoně
Karol Duchoň was a famous Slovak singer with a fast but symptomatic life destiny, which we can largely perceive as an apt metaphor for our lives under normalization. An "ordinary" boy with a brilliant voice and a single desire - to sing - gets between two gears. One is the glory he longs for, which comes quickly and is almost unmanageable, and the other is the socialist power that subdues man until he finally consumes him completely. The main character is carried by his destiny rather than having him firmly in his hands. The ensemble willingly accepted the poetics of director Havelka and understands his playful style, which balances on the border of irony and systematic play.
