ABOUT BRAVE BLACKSMITH

11/12/22, 10:30

The young blacksmith Mikeš sets out into the world to experience it. Along the way, he encounters two friends, Matěj and Ondra, and when he finds out about three beautiful princesses who have mysteriously disappeared, the brave Mikeš manages to persuade the two lazy people to go looking for their lost royal daughters. They set out on a challenging journey full of dangerous pitfalls, but because we are in a fairy tale, everything turns out well in the end.

In 1983, Bohumil Steiner and Jaroslav Petřík adapted the classic fairy tale by Božena Němcová into a film script. Petr Ulrych wrote beautiful music and, directed by Petr Švéda, a fairy tale was created starring Pavel Kříž, which regularly returns to television screens. We are now introducing it in a new form. The theatrical version, which will not miss anything from the well-known story, was prepared by Igor Ondříček and Klára Latzková. In collaboration with Petr Ulrych, an old story is created, in a new guise, which, however, preserves the poetics of the original fairy tale. Viewers can look forward to both unforgettable melodies known from the television screen and new songs by Petr Ulrych, who celebrated a significant life anniversary in 2019 and, among other things, celebrates his many years of collaboration with our theater. The world premiere of a new adaptation of this magical fairy tale, for which Jaroslav Milfajt will create the stage, is directed by Igor Ondříček.
