Concert by Zora Jandová & guests
ZORA JANDOVÁ, musical actress and chansonist, will celebrate her 65th birthday in September 2023.
In October of the same year, it will be 60 years since the death of ÉDITH PIAF.
The concert will commemorate not only the French singer with the most famous songs from her repertoire, but will also be a tribute to the genre of songs with a story - chansons.
The French word la chanson corresponds to the expression song in Czech. However, chanson is a specific Czech expression, the meaning and popularity of which was (jointly) created in the sixties by Hana Hegerová and others. The main European representatives of the genre, in which the text and story are as important as the music, were, for example, Gilbert Bécaud, Jacques Brel, Marlene Dietrich and Édith Piaf, and currently the singer Zaz.
Without a doubt, Zora Jandová is one of the most important interpreters of this genre in our country. She is appreciated by domestic and foreign audiences thanks to her original interpretation of French and her own songs. In 2010, the performance Death in Pink about Édith Piaf premiered in Prague. The main role was played by Zora, who, in addition to the text of the play, translated the lyrics of songs from French, e.g. Milord, L'Accordéoniste (The Accordionist), La vie en rose (Life in Rose), Padam padam, etc. She also played a singer in the French film about Commissioner Maigret , the theme song is still in his repertoire. The music for the film was composed by composer and producer Zdenek Merta.
Together they performed concerts all over the world, wrote a number of songs and also the chanson musical Naked Muse from the environment of Parisian bohemia, which was performed in the Municipal Theater of Brno.
Among the guests of Zora Jandová and Zdenek Merta (accompanied by the MdB orchestra) will be special performers related to songs with a story - Markéta Sedláčková, Svetlana Janotová, Esther Mertová, Stanislav Slovák and Ondřej Ruml.
