These concerts bring together an exceptional array of composers and performers from countries whose shores are washed by the Baltic Sea: Lithuania (Bronius Kutavičius), Latvia (Pēteris Vasks, who has promised to attend the concerts personally), Finland (Jean Sibelius), Denmark (Michael Schønwandt) and Germany (Dominik Wollenweber). Folklore inspirations are what connects the three pieces on the programme.

Since 2015, Michael Schønwandt has been the principal conductor of the Opéra Orchestre National de Montpellier. He conducted Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in Bayreuth and his projects in the new opera house in Copenhagen have included a novel staging of the tetralogy, Der Ring des Nibelungen.

A member of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1993, Dominik Wollenweber also performs with the Concerto Melante Baroque ensemble, and in 2011 co-founded the Ensemble Berlin Prag. He teaches oboe at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin.

The concerts are held under the auspices of H. E. Gunta Pastore, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Czech Republic, H.E. Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Czech Republic.
