Brno Philharmonic: OPENING CONCERT OF THE 70TH SEASON
The Brno Philharmonic celebrates its 70th season!
It will once again enter its 70th season under the leadership of Chief Conductor Dennis Russell Davies, for whom this will be his eighth season at the helm of our orchestra. The same anniversary as the Brno Philharmonic is being celebrated by the children's choir Kantiléna, which was founded in 1956 at the initiative of Ivan Sedláček as the Šlapanice Children's Choir and has been with the Philharmonic since 1984. The jubilant ensembles will symbolically begin the season together and - in collaboration with the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno and mezzo-soprano Kateřina Hebelková - will offer the Brno audience the monumental Third Symphony by Gustav Mahler, a native of Kaliště, who, with his nine completed numbered symphonies, can be considered the consummate romantic symphony of the 19th century.
