Ibérica 2022: Magalí Sare & Sebastià Gris

17/06/22, 19:20

The distinctive singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer Magalí Sare won the hearts of Catalan and Spanish listeners and at the same time gained the recognition of the professional public. Now he will introduce himself to the Czech audience for the first time, in a successful project in a duo with guitarist Sebastià Gris.
At an early age, Magalí Sare began playing the piano, percussion and singing. At the age of nine, she was given the opportunity to sing in the opera choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and at the age of twelve, she made her debut as a soloist at the Teatre Lliure Children's Opera in Barcelona. She later received her high school education in flute and opera singing. She also studied jazz singing at the conservatory. Although her work can be considered multi-genre, she is closest to jazz. She also confirms this in a duo with the Majorcan Sebastià Gris, whom she met while studying at the conservatory. Together they won the first jazz prize Juventudes Musicales de España (2018) and the first prize at the Festival of Minority Language Music in Udine SUNS Europe, Italy (2019). In 2020, they released their debut album called A boy & a girl, with which they toured Spain and Europe. Now, by Magalí Sare, who also sang the anthem during the inauguration of the Catalan president, together with Sebastià Gris, they are looking forward to the Czech premiere, where else but at the Ibérica festival.
The concert is organized in cooperation with the Cervantes Institute in Prague and the AIE.
