Jozef Van Wissem (Netherlands)

The unique Dutch avant-garde composer and lutenist Jozef van Wissem returns to the Kabinet. Almost exactly a year later, Jozef comes to present, among other things, a new album called "Look! I Make All Things New”. The album, which was recorded during the lockdown, returns Wissem's music back to the neoclassical style. The sound of the lute is inextricably linked to ancient times, but Jozef breathes a new dimension into his compositions. The traditional baroque sound is absorbed by drone hypnotism, minimalism, urgency, mystery and, last but not least, humor. His credits include the soundtrack for Jim Jarmusch's vampire film - Only Lovers Survive, which won the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival for film music. The collaboration with Jarmusch culminated in four joint records released on the prestigious Brooklyn label Sacred Bones. More than twenty years of musical creation crystallized in collaboration with Zola Jesus, Gary Lucas, Tetuzi Akiyama, and last year's album called "EX MORTIS" is enhanced by the voice of Jarboe or Thor from Swans. Let yourself be drawn into the unique world of Jozef Van Wissem in the acoustically smooth hall of the MÚZ Cabinet!

TOMAS NIESNER
Tomáš Niesner from Bastl Instruments is the well-known half of the Šimanský/Niesner duo. In the spring, he drew significant attention to himself with this year's solo recording Bečvá, which is an ambient expression of deepening his relationship with the most intimate river in his life. The album has so far been released on cassette + digital, and Kabinet Records is preparing to release the album on vinyl.
