STURLE DAGSLAND (NORWAY)

Moss and lava, the cruel teddy bear Sturle Dagsland returns to awaken the demons of Norwegian folklore.

Adorable darkness? Elegiac dirges? A goblin that can rain terror and horror? The musician Sturle Dagsland is, without exaggeration, a revelation that may have grown out of the tradition of dark Norwegian folklore, but his work otherwise defies any categorization. Dagsland's eponymous debut from 2021 was filled with the idea of what can be created from folk traditions, and it fundamentally touched on ideas about the gatekeepers of darkness - especially when he went on the European tour of Finnish psychedelic metallers Oranssi Pazuzu as support. After the hypnotic concert in Venus in Švehlovka, he is now returning to Prague and Brno.

It's hard to find words for Dagsland's vocal poise - his range is incredible, as is his ability to venture into corners where we really wouldn't expect him. The frenzy of his music is firmly in his hands, its excitement is controlled, Sturle Dagsland is endlessly romantic for a while, only to soon turn this energy into an explosive ride. His concerts are real adventure expeditions and not only because of how much Dagsland runs around the stage. Sturle performs live alongside his brother, and the combination of the two men equals the power of the orchestra.

MMNK (or Moths are entitled to cremation)

MMNK's music is a combination of progressive punk with naughty villainy and lyrics steeped in cynicism, dark humor and melancholic self-deprecation. Their debut record evokes the atmosphere of the MMNK multiverse, in which the "artists" take on the roles of their alter egos. Flutiness in the texts is also manifested by the frequency of vulgarisms, paraphrases and borrowed foreign expressions. The eclecticism of the above-mentioned musical group has its roots in the literature of beatniks, Power Rangers, Galactik Football, Pár Pařmenů and, last but not least, in The Last Temptation. The band categorizes itself as white trash. Czech lyrics, raw rhythms and sharp riffs could be classified as progressive pop punk, and they purposefully aim for all fans of weird music and excitement. MMNK even got the label "New Weird Czechia", following the example of New Weird Britain, denoting a new wave of bands with a radical approach to creation.
