AMELIA SIBA
At the end of March, Amelie Siba releases her third full-length album, Gently Double A. On the record, recorded with the DIY method, she captures the search for self-confidence in a world that often places too many demands on us. Sadness and bitter reconciliation from past recordings have been replaced by hope on the new album, tendencies to self-destruction have been replaced by active self-care.
Amelie Siba - a musician from Prague, is one of the most prominent faces of the contemporary Czech independent music scene, and her name is primarily associated with the concepts of tenderness and closeness. The musician puts her own story in each of the songs, which refers to retrospective states and her own state of mind. The texts act like diary entries, the central themes of which are growing up and relationships both with oneself - from the point of view of inner pain, uncertainty and the search for values - and with others. Amelie accompanies her narrations with gentle guitar melodies and decent electronics, which give the work a dreamy touch. The songs may seem depressing at first glance, but above all they are full of hope and give a sense of belonging and faith in a better future - because "time goes on". Despite the fact that these are often specific experiences of the musician herself, the listener can identify with each of the stories very easily and can find their "teenage girl" in themselves. Amelie places a strong emphasis on a personal, intimate approach to her audience and thus creates a unique intimate concert atmosphere that can even have a therapeutic effect.
Over the past few years, Amelie has managed to release several singles, the debut EP under the name It Was Nice To Meet You and the album Dye my hair, which she recorded and produced entirely herself and for which she received the Apollo and Anděl award. At the beginning of 2021, she released her next EP under the name when is our time, where she works with electronic beats and thus adds a dance touch to the songs. Anyway, the songs have not lost their coziness. In October 2021, she released her second full-length album called Love cowboys, for which she received her second Anděl award, and now she is preparing to release her third full-length record, GentlyDoubleA, in the spring of 2023. The year 2023 does not start only with the release of the album, before the release, Siba will participate in the largest European showcase of the ESNS festival and is one of fifteen nominees for the Music Moves Europe award as one of the most outstanding musicians of 2022.
