Dmitry Spirin (ex-TARAKANY!) + Ollie North (Brno)

21/06/22, 20:00

Since the beginning of the war, many Russian musicians have taken an anti-war stance against Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
For Dmitri Spirin, singer and frontman of the Moscow punk band Tarakana! (Cockroaches!), It became a logical continuation of the ideas about freedom, the fight for civil rights and against totalitarianism, brotherhood, pacifism or democracy, which he sang in his songs. All this before the start of the war turned out to be the reason why the Tarakans! have become virtually illegal in Russia. Their concerts were disrupted, television appearances were banned, and the authorities launched politically motivated actions against Spirin himself. The group was eventually disbanded and Spirin left Russia.
From the very first days of the war, the musician began to actively inform the audience on his social networks and pass on messages and opinions that are now illegal in Russia and for which he can be prosecuted. At the same time, he paused: "As if I had lost my voice, the desire to perform and compose has evaporated," Dmitrij said in an interview. will go to the Diana Podolyanchuk Charitable Foundation, which helps the army, hospitals, displaced persons and people in cities at risk of humanitarian crises.
It is no coincidence that this tour is called "Songs, not bombs" (Songs, not bombs). This is a modified phrase from the famous Tarakan song! "Silence - this direction" (Silence is death) perfectly demonstrating the civic and creative attitude of the artist. Only songs relevant and relevant to the moment were selected for the program of these concerts, which coincidentally proved to be the most famous hits of the Tarakans !: "Cause of hatred", (Lords of the Universe), "The Power of One" (The Power of One). The well-known song of the group "Ulica svobody" (Street of Freedom), whose text the musicians transcribed into Ukrainian before the Ukrainian tour in March 2014, will be presented in this version under the title "Vulicja Svobodi". In addition to the acoustic versions of his own disbanded band, Spirin also plans to play covers of famous anti-war songs that have influenced him throughout his life.
The concerts will be supported by Maxim Frolov, a talented musician, member of Not and Single Break and Radio Afrika.
The guest of this concert will be the Brno punk band Jllie North.
