The group KRABAT was founded in 1982 by young musicians Pavel Řehoř, Tom Jegr, Jiří Navrátil and Slávek Fric. They performed publicly in 1983-84, when their own work, mixing influences from hard rock, metal, punk and new wave, free-thinking and uninhibited performance, literally caused an uproar among the youth in the Brno area. Fans soon began to attend their performances in large numbers, which brought conflicts with the then still very rigid regime. Communist cultural buffoons led by Stb officers gradually prevented them from performing publicly under various pretexts. The last concert in April 1984 became a downright anti-regime demonstration.
