Nazareth are a Scottish rock band, known for several hard rock hits, as well as a cover version of the ballad Love Hurts from the mid-1970s. The band was formed in Dunfermline from the remnants of the semi-professional local band The Shadettes (originally Mark V and The Red Hawks) by singer Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew and drummer Darrell Sweet. They took their name from the song The Weight by The Band. In 1970, the band moved to London, where they released their first album of the same name in 1971.
