Advent Concert: Castello in Aria – Artistic Director Vít Bébar
The Ave Rosa in Jericho program consists of Baroque works intended for the Advent season performed on copies of period musical instruments. The authors of these compositions include Jan Josef Božan, Václav Karel Holan Rovenský, Adam Václav Michna z Otradovice, Albericus Mazák, Johann Sebastian Bach, Heinrich Schütz, John Bull, Giovanni Gabrieli, Biaggio Marini, Enrico Radesca di Foggia, Mateo Flecha, Maurizio Cazzati and Dario Castello.
The Castello in Aria ensemble is dedicated to Renaissance and Baroque music, and from the rich sources of this period it also selects lesser-known pieces of both European and, for example, Latin American origin. An integral part is the adaptation and addition of often austere notations for the current composition of the ensemble, there is also room for improvisation.
