BOUNTY is one of the younger *tramp* and folk bands. Their distinctive take on "acoustic" music, enhanced by vocal harmonies, is appreciated not only by festival audiences and juries but also by everyday people gathered around the campfires where the band got its start.
David Kourek is a singer-songwriter whose original music strikes a balance between playfulness and sincerity, cheerfulness and earnestness—speaking straight from the heart to the listener's ear.
F.T.SteBou is a purely amateur, almost "home-grown" band that performs primarily its own original material.
SAKRAPES is a bluegrass band. Its members are considered legends of the genre, and not just in Brno.

The cult rock band, founded in 1976 by keyboardist and singer Michael Kocáb, has had a major impact on the domestic music scene, primarily with its new wave aesthetic, satirical lyrics and virtuoso performances. The combination of intelligent humor and energetic music has been their hallmark for half a century.
The band will perform in its original lineup, led by Michael Kocáb, Michal Pavlíček, Vilém Čok, Klaudius Kryšpín and Jiří Hrubeš.

Lea Kalisch and Der Šenster Gob
Lea Kalisch aka Rebbetzin Lea is a New York-based Jewish singer, songwriter, producer and entertainer born in Switzerland. The rapping diva in an Orthodox shtraymil rose to fame in 2020 with her debut single “Eshet Chayil of Hip Hop” and the music video of the same name. She creates an eclectic musical mix of languages and styles from Yiddish to hip hop, rap and tango. Der Šenster Gob is a Prague acoustic band playing Romani, Jewish and other Eastern European folk music from old wedding songs to more modern arrangements with a touch of jazz or gypsy swing. During their musical journeys in a green wooden caravan, the band traveled all over Europe and adjacent parts of Asia, collecting experiences, memories and musical inspiration and songs from various corners. During one of her trips to Switzerland, she accidentally met Lea Kalisch on the street, invited her as a guest for an evening performance and later on a small Czech tour, which resulted in the joint album Shtetl Neshume.
ŠTETL FEST: Urband
A street scumbag who sucks a song into his bone-chilling gears and grinds it into a form that resembles the roar coming from a suspicious place after closing time. We guarantee street bravado and café sentiment! The Urband music group was formed around 2002 in Brno from various improvised groups performing street music in the Czech Republic and across Europe. A Jewish selection, but also a mix of Russian songs, jazz, waltz, tango and blues will be played by Tomáš Vtípil, Vladimír Červenka and Pavel Všianský.

This year, you can look forward to performances by folklore ensembles from Brno and the surrounding area, from various parts of the Czech Republic, and from abroad—specifically Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, and Portugal. Each group will perform dedicated sets on the stage at Freedom Square (náměstí Svobody) and participate in joint programs in the New Town Hall courtyard.
On Saturday, come and see the parade of performers in traditional folk costumes through Brno’s city center. Throughout the festival, you can also visit the traditional market at Freedom Square.
ŠTETL FEST: Mojše Band Electro & DJ Ronelle
An evening on the border between a concert, a dance ritual and contemporary world music. The Slovak group Mojše Band has been one of the most prominent projects on the Central European world music scene for more than ten years. In its work, it draws on the klezmer tradition, which it connects with contemporary experimental, electronic and club music. In the current project, the band works with an unusual combination of historical instruments and electronic modulators or virtual sound layers. The result is a hypnotic fusion that creates a bridge between tradition and the present, minority culture and today's audience.
ŠTETL FEST: Makabara
Makabara is a female vocal trio named after the first syllables of the names of singers Maria Vostatková (soprano), Kateřina Schejbalová (mezzo-soprano) and Barbora Mirgová (alto), which was formed on the premises of the Jan Deyl Conservatory in Prague, which provides musical education to students with visual impairments. The trio, which has been operating in its original lineup for more than twenty years, specializes primarily in the interpretation of Hebrew and Jewish songs a capella, but their repertoire also includes songs by contemporary Czech authors and spirituals.

Founded by singer and trumpeter Yael Gat, Folkadu invites listeners to experience the magic of Jewish music. The unique combination of singing, oud, accordion, trumpet and shofar creates a sound that connects tradition with the present and impressively represents the diversity of Jewish music. The repertoire includes well-known and forgotten compositions and poems in Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino. Folkadu thus builds a musical bridge between East and West and promotes cultural understanding that is both timeless and highly relevant.

ŠTETL FEST: Malox
After years of anticipation, one of the most distinctive and explosive bands on the contemporary international scene is returning to the Czech Republic. Trio Malox is coming to the ŠTETL FEST festival to once again remind us what music without borders sounds like. The ensemble, led by brothers Eyal Talmudi (saxophone, clarinet) and Assaf Talmudi (keyboards), together with energetic drummer Roy Chen, connects the Jewish klezmer tradition with rock’n’roll, psychedelia, electronics and uncompromising avant-garde. Since their last concert in Brno, the band has toured the world’s festival stages and club scene, continuing to develop their characteristic sound, in which virtuoso wind instruments collide with hypnotic rhythms and electronic surfaces.
ŠTETL FEST: Klezmerové písně
American violinist, composer, ethnomusicologist and one of the most prominent contemporary klezmer performers, Yale Strom, will guide workshop participants through the history and specific musical language of the klezmer tradition. The practically-oriented workshop is open to musicians of all levels and instruments. Participants will try out the characteristic melodic ornaments, rhythm and interpretation nuances that distinguish klezmer from other forms of folk music. The meeting will also include a joint study of a piece originating from the territory of the former Czechoslovakia. Selected participants will have the opportunity to join the evening concert directly on stage and experience the unique connection of community music making with professional performance. The workshop will be held in English.
ŠTETL FEST: Písně v jidiš
Singing Workshop with Elizabeth Schwartz Singer Elizabeth Schwartz will guide the workshop participants through the world of traditional Yiddish songs and introduce their historical and cultural context. The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of singing experience, professional musicians and those who simply enjoy singing. Participants will learn two traditional Yiddish songs together and try out their specific melody, rhythm and expression. They will also have the opportunity to join the evening concert and sing together with Elizabeth Schwartz and Yale Strom directly on stage. The meeting will thus combine the music workshop with the live experience of communal singing, which is one of the most important parts of the Jewish musical tradition. The workshop will be held in English.
ŠTETL FEST: Létající rabín
Melodies of Jewish weddings, echoes of ancient revolutions, cheerful hits of New York cabarets and ballads from the ports of the Black Sea. The band, which has been active since 2001, has been trained by the most important figures of world klezmer, and sees the traditional repertoire as a starting point for its own search. In its work, it connects original Yiddish songs with original translations, its own melodies and influences from various musical cultures. The result is a distinctive sound that has won over listeners on stages on several continents. The concert is included in the ticket to the Jewish Market. ŠTETL FEST: David and Goliath dance
A stone in the eye – is it still kind humor or a real fight? A prematurely aged ball band is looking for its place in the Old Testament dispute between arrogance and boldness. Whose bread to eat and whose song to sing? Well, once you are there, you have to look to be there – but whose side is it on? A theatrical experiment about what is left of Jan Werich today. A legacy of bold satire, a tamed Golem that bakes buns, or just a mere Fimfárum? The performance will be in Czech.
ŠTETL FEST: Yale Strom Band
Yale Strom Band presents a unique concert inspired by the shared musical traditions of Jewish and Romani musicians from the former Subcarpathian Ruthenia, the eastern region of pre-war Czechoslovakia. Based on decades of ethnographic research, Yale Strom revives melodies that once sounded at village festivals, weddings and social gatherings. In addition to traditional pieces, original compositions inspired by these musical gatherings and memories will also be performed. The concert is included in the ticket to the Jewish Market. Is Verdi’s famous *Nabucco* merely an opera about the yearning for freedom? Jiří Heřman’s production offers a compelling perspective on the story of the Babylonian king and the Jewish people, centering on family relationships and King Nebuchadnezzar himself. Filled with magnificent choral numbers and captivating vocal parts, this opera has been one of the most popular titles in our repertoire for 35 years.
NdB Season-Opening Open-Air Concert
Join the celebrations marking the start of the 2026/2027 season at the National Theatre Brno! Get a sneak peek at the upcoming season and discover the surprises in store for you.
Look forward to performances by the soloists, chorus, and orchestra of the Janáček Opera (NdB), conducted by Chief Conductor Robert Kružík alongside his colleagues Ondrej Olos, Jakub Klecker, and Dominik Pernica.
They will be joined by dancers from the NdB and NdB2 ballet companies, while actors from the NdB Drama Company, Pavel Čeněk Vaculík and Anna Gläsnerová, will host the evening.
The piazzetta will open to the public in the afternoon, offering a rich program for the whole family prior to the concert.
Refreshments on the piazzetta will be provided this year by Basta Catering.

Black Magnet (USA)
Black Magnet are pioneers of the new wave of American industrial metal. *Revolver* magazine aptly described their music as "grinding, searing, and metallic-mechanical"—and that is exactly how they come across live. Expect an aggressive sound, machine-like precision, razor-sharp riffs, and destructive intensity.
Black Magnet have released two full-length albums via the 20 Buck Spin label, while their latest effort, *Megamantra*, came out on Federal Prisoner. The band has shared the stage with acts like 3TEETH, Code Orange, and Chat Pile, and earlier this year, they toured the US with Author & Punisher.
Their lineup also features members of All Your Sisters, Destroyer Destroyer, and Greg Puciato’s backing band. Prepare for a truly heavy, guitar-driven industrial sound that crushes, pulses, and never lets up for a second.

The Makropulos Affair
Immortality is a curse.
This is the story of the mysterious opera diva Emilia Marty, a fascinating *femme fatale* who turns the lives of everyone around her upside down. Yet few suspect that behind her cool mask and captivating voice lies Elina Makropulos—the daughter of Emperor Rudolf II’s physician—who has lived for over three hundred years thanks to an elixir of youth.
Leoš Janáček composed this penultimate opera based on a famous play by Karel Čapek. While Čapek wrote his work as a conversational comedy with a detective-story plot, Janáček infused it with profound emotion. He created a gripping drama about the human longing for eternal life, but also about the endless weariness, loneliness, and cynicism that arise when death is denied. The premiere took place in 1926 at the *Divadlo Na hradbách* in Brno, attended by the composer himself. It has become one of Janáček’s most enduringly popular operas and is frequently performed on the world’s most prestigious stages.
The National Theatre Brno has prepared this production as part of the "Year of Czech Music"—marking the 160th anniversary of the composer's birth—and as the opening event of the Janáček Brno 2014 festival.
CAMOUFLAGE
The cult German band Camouflage is returning to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. After a year and a half, they will once again perform for their Czech and Slovak fans. Following the phenomenal success of their previous visit—which included a sold-out show in Prague and a total of three unique concerts—they are coming back. The band enjoys immense popularity among Czech and Slovak fans. Camouflage holds the status of a cult German electronic band, originally formed in 1983. This time, they will perform in Prague, Brno, and Pezinok. They will present their greatest hits—including the timeless "Love is a Shield," "The Great Commandment," and "Suspicious Love"—in fresh arrangements. The setlist will also offer a retrospective of their work spanning an incredible forty-two years, alongside new tracks from their upcoming album. A highlight of this tour is the visual component, featuring special video projections on large LED screens. The band returns energized by the incredible feedback from audiences and long-time fans alike. They have spent two years successfully touring arenas, clubs, and festivals—not only in their homeland but also in the Baltic states, Poland, and, of course, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where they command a massive following. This enthusiastic reception serves as a key driving force for the band, who are delighted by the tremendous interest in their music.
Devil Master (USA) + Solomonar
Rising once more from the darkest, filthiest streets of old Philadelphia, Devil Master return to corrupt the children of light with their third album, *Bloody Dreams*. This new Relapse Records release leans further into punk and occasionally delves into psychedelia, yet remains enveloped in the savage aura of raw black metal. The album was produced by Davis M. Shubs and Grammy-nominated sound engineer Eric Bogacz, who imbued the record with a dark, hypnotic sound. A raw black metal-punk ecstasy of blasphemy and existential dread!
Solomonar is a new occult metal-punk band from Brno, inspired by romantic vampirism, morbid visions, the omnipresence of death, mysticism, and heavy drinking.
