Since forming in Bradford in 1980, New Model Army have gone through everything from punk rebellion to northern English folk influences to dark rock. Their sound is built on a dominant, pulsating bass guitar and the charismatic voice of frontman Justin Sullivan, whose lyrics about social injustice and personal freedom have lost none of their relevance in 45 years. They have immortal classics like Vengeance and Thunder and Consolation, as well as a fresh approach in the form of the well-received album Unbroken. The band is famous for their devoted fan base, "The Family", and concerts where blood and emotion are sweated without unnecessary studio embellishments. New Model Army don't need pyro or confetti; they just need guitars and the truth that cuts to the heart.

Dan Bárta & Illustratosphere

14/07/26, 19:00 / Kraví hora amphitheater

Dan Bárta, an eleven-time winner of the Anděl Award in the categories Singer of the Year and Singer of the Quarter Century, became widely known in the 1990s with the band Alice and his performance in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. He also became an integral part of the cult J.A.R. His broad musical outlook was used from the danceable Sexy Dancers to popular songs from films (including Snowboarders, Rafťáci, Horem pádem) to jazz associated with, for example, the Robert Balzar trio. He left his significant mark in a number of other domestic musical projects and also performed with the greats of the world music scene (e.g. with the phenomenal singer Bobby McFerrin or with Sting's court guitarist Dominik Miller). In 2000, Dan Bárta surprised fans with his own group Illustratosphere, with which he has released five regular albums and one live double album. The first four albums have also been released in remastered reissues and for the first time on LP. An unmistakable voice with excellent singing technique, lyrics playing with the charm of the Czech language, and first-class musicians: all of this gives rise to songs that soar above the domestic standard of popular music, which have been appealing to listeners across generations for 25 years!

Ballet at the Bishop's Court

14/07/26, 20:15 / Biskupský dvůr

Every summer, the Bishop's Court turns into an open-air theatre. This year, we will present Romeo and Juliet at this venue with a strong genius loci. Shakespeare's story of two young people from opposing families is probably familiar to everyone. However, in the performance of the NdB Ballet, it takes on a new form: the choreography of Mário Radačovský to the music of Sergei Prokofiev creates a powerful dance experience from this timeless tragedy. A specially adapted open-air version was created for the summer performance at the Bishop's Court - whether you have seen the production at the Janáček Theatre or not, this performance is worth a visit in itself. Last year, the ballet Romeo and Juliet was missing at the Bishop's Court - this year we will perform it for you four times.

Take the ukulele to the orchard

15/07/26, 18:00 / Denisovy sady

Do you know a few chords? That's enough. Take your ukulele and join in. Ukulele Orchestra Brno is preparing a slightly different evening. This time it won't just be a classic concert - it's more about playing together. Take your ukulele and come play in Denisovy sady. We'll play a few familiar songs, no big deal, just the joy of having more people with the same instrument. You don't have to learn anything. It's really not that complicated. If you can master a few chords, you'll play with us. Take your ukulele and join in.

Hana and Petr Ulrychovi & Javory

16/07/26, 19:00 / Kraví hora amphitheater

Hana and Petr Ulrych, as the protagonists of the band Javory, have been active on our music scene for decades. What they sing and play has gradually crystallized into a unique musical genre that experts call "Moravian world music". The Ulrychs were the first pioneers of creatively following Moravian folklore. Their songs contain elements of folk songs and big beat, which they started with. They also contain references to Petr's film and theater music. Together with Hana's extraordinary singing quality, they offer listeners the culmination of their original musical journey, especially in the Christmas concert, which exceptionally capitalizes on all these contributions.

Spring

17/07/26, 17:00 / Museum of Applied Arts

Dance-visual performance The dance-visual performance JARO is a reference to the natural cycle and returns to the rituals that were associated with this time. It is a tribute to nature, awareness of its power and getting rid of everything that hinders its flourishing. JARO is an essay about today, which carries traces of the past in the sense of belonging and the perception of oneself as part of the ecosystem. Society has meanwhile moved forward without regard to the natural order. But it continues to move forward without stopping, only man breaks it and thinks he can change it.

A summer evening between dance and stand-up. A seemingly disparate summer meeting of comedian Petr Soukup and dancer and choreographer Milan Tomášik on one evening in Brno in 2026. Musical accompaniment by Jakub Mudrák.

Vinyl should not be exposed to sunlight No.4

24/07/26, 17:00 / Old Downhill

DJ and vinyl lover Romeo Green celebrates thirty years behind the turntables this year. And that's why he decided to offer his Brno residents, who perhaps - after all these years - understand him - four different versions of his set. Each one supplemented by a distinguished DJ guest. Romeo is sensitive to social and cultural events and likes to play at public and charity events, such as the traditional "Run for the Memory of the Nation". In addition, he promotes genres that are considered minority in our country, although the opposite is true in the world. He respects minorities and supports women as much as he can. That is also why his invitation to DJ guest will be gender-balanced.
