Coco Chanel
The story of visionary creativity that changed the way women dress. Coco Chanel as fearlessness, ferocity and risk, as well as taste, philosophy and brand. A contemporary ballet by Mário Radačovský about a woman who fundamentally influenced the world of fashion. The second, spring premiere of the 2023/2024 season, completes the ten-year tenure of artistic director Mário Radačovský at the head of the NdB Ballet company. As a choreographer, he has in the past enjoyed working on full-length titles inspired by the life and work of great figures in human cultural history. We can recall the titles of the ballets Warhol, Beethoven, Michelangelo.
The Jackal Years
"Close your eyes, most of you can see better that way..." The famous 1993 musical comedy film by director Jan Hřebejk and screenwriter Petr Jarchovský, based on the short story of the same name by Petr Šabach, does not present a realistic picture of the Czech 1950s. Rather, it erects, with admitted exaggeration, a monument "in honor of the heroes who once drove people crazy," as sung in its final song.
Kósavá deka
We want to play bluegrass, especially in G, fast and loud. We do it because we enjoy it - and there are those who claim that it shows in us. The repertoire consists of melodies taken from American bluegrass and newgrass bands, but we also like to play classic country hits or songs from the repertoire of Czech rock and blues musicians. Because our English is not the most refined and we are also closer to the Moravian cellar than to the prairie with blue grass, we use Czech lyrics for English songs by our "court" lyricists Richard Málek, Richard Lukes, Petra Švecová and others.

Educational concert for the first grade of elementary schools and primary schools
Moderated educational double concert "What are brass instruments" focused on American music The educational concert of the Moravia Brass Band chamber ensemble popularizes the playing of brass instruments among young listeners. The concert not only introduces basic brass instruments such as trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba, or their relatives - piccolo trumpet, flugelhorn, euphonium, tenor tuba and others, but also shows the instruments in their natural environment. This means that it brings children a multi-genre overlap of these interesting instruments using arrangements of classical, film, jazz and folklore music. The goal is also to encompass the connections between Czech brass music and music from around the world with a focus on American music. The concert is captivatingly presented by Jiří Kokmotos and there is a drum section that underlines the atmosphere of the entire concert.

However, his love belongs to the captive Aida, who no one knows is the princess of the hostile Ethiopian country. Unbeknownst to either of them, they will soon face a choice that will decide life or death...

Joyless as Fvck | Olaf Olafsonn and the Big Bad Trip
Joyless as Fvck is a Prague quartet that, instead of antidepressants, loads up massive guitar walls à la My Bloody Valentine at night and mixes them with swinging trip-hop beats in the spirit of Massive Attack. Their concert resembles mass noise therapy: a shoegaze wall of sound pours over the audience, while the unabashed lyrics validate everyday chaos. Everything is delivered with a good dose of sarcasm – it stings, but it doesn't leave any lasting effects. Olaf Olafsonn and the Big Bad Trip are instrumental stalwarts of the Czech psychedelic scene. Although their base has always been and still is mainly in the waters of psychedelic rock, for almost a decade they have been undertaking exploratory expeditions into other genres, be it progressive rock, stoner, jazz, tribal music, acoustic folk, or even black metal and avant-garde trends.

Samhain III + Lichočar + Sukuba ensemble
Lichočar was born at the end of the summer of 2018. A mandolin player was rummaging through Slavic mythology and this word popped into her head. Together with two friends, a flutist and a singer, they decided that they wanted to find out what or who could be called that. Lichočar. Is it a demon? A malicious goblin? A ghost? That's how stories began to emerge, both written and musical, inspired by one made-up word, driven by curiosity. In addition to classical musical instruments such as the guitar, flute, cello or (octave) mandolin, you can also hear instruments that are otherwise rather unusual in Moravia in lichočar songs - for example, the Indian shruti box, the Celtic harp, the Irish bodhran, the shaman drum, the brumla, the kalimba... And recently, the Turkish davul. Polyphonic female singing in various European languages or dialects is also typical for them. The band finds inspiration in old stories, mythology and folklore of different countries, but through group improvisations, searching and experimenting, we create our own music. The result is a sound that balances between folklore and alternative, between delicate melody and rawness.
Blood Fire Death - Tribute to Bathory!
BATHORY - Icons and pioneers of black metal. Few bands have influenced the metal scene as much as this one-man project of Thomas "Quorthon" Forsberg, who unfortunately died prematurely in 2004. Without even performing live once, they managed to shape the direction of the genre for decades. On their first self-produced recordings, they shaped black metal, while later they remembered their roots and focused on the myths surrounding the Norse gods and Vikings, which was reflected in their later, more atmospheric music. BLOOD FIRE DEATH / A project formed in 2010 and originating from the Karlsruhe and Heidelberg area in southern Germany. With a repertoire of almost 35 songs from the BATHORY universe, they focused primarily on the "Viking" era of this legend and their fan base has been growing inexorably since then. They present the songs using organs, acoustic guitars and vocal arrangements, faithful to the original compositions.

Its shows are renowned for their authenticity and loyalty to the original sound and visual style of Queen. The band, led by Michael Kluch, whose voice, movement and appearance are reminiscent of Freddie Mercury's best years, will once again take you into the magical world of Queen's greatest hits.
BREN + KAKKTUS (christening)
Brnoenfield aka Bren are synonymous with a sound combining elements of slowcore, shoegaze, blues and no wave with dark Czech lyrics. The band grew together with Kabinet MÚZ and they grew with them. The result of their joint journeys is their great album Tmou, which was released in 2024 on Kabinet Records. Bren recorded the album, illuminated by dark and suggestive emotions, at the Golden Hive studio in Prague with Michal "Amák" Šťastný. They are inspired not only by foreign performers such as Slowdive, Jaye Jayle, Swans or Nick Cave, but also by the domestic scene, such as Priessnitz. Dirty rock'n'roll and punk looking for beauty in dirt and simplicity with the new album Osmihodinový muž. “The album is a celebration of those who were forgotten during their lifetime and at the same time it is a diary entry of an observer who is looking for a piece of love and hope in all of this,” explain the Šternberk foursome. Kakktus will take you on a surreal walk through the night city to the sound of gloomy punk rock with a typical style of poems set to music about the heroes of their own stories that no one was ever very interested in.
Hurvínek sells the bride
Daddy, how is a bride sold? How did you come to know that someone would sell a bride, Hurvínek? Well, I read here: The National Theatre in Brno is performing Bedřich Smetana's opera The Bartered Bride. So how is it, Daddy? Well, you know, it's just like... how should I put it to you... it's a trick to buy a bride for yourself. So now I'm a fool - is it being sold or bought? You know what, Hurvajz, take Žeryk and Mánička and we'll go to the opera, it'll be easier than explaining it to you!

Nine Crosses
The musical Nine Crosses, written especially for our theatre, tells an old Moravian legend about a cruel act that, according to chronicles, took place around 1540 in a small village near Velká Bíteš. A landowner from Hluboké finds a lifeless body of a man on his way home from the market in Bíteš. He takes him home and the young stranger – a Hungarian horse trader – recovers after a while. He falls in love with the landowner's daughter Eliška, but his father does not want to hear about the marriage. The stranger binds Eliška with a promise of fidelity and leaves to sell his estates in Hungary and return with the money for his bride. However, time passes and Luka does not return. Eliška succumbs to the insistence of her father and others to marry the miller's son. On the wedding day, Luka returns from Hungary and soon learns about the merrymaking. Mad with rage, he swears revenge, which he eventually carries out together with the gamekeeper Kudla. Together they wait for the wedding procession on the road near Hluboké and end the lives of the wedding guests, including the landowner, Eliška and others. In the end, he sees his companion and himself out of the world. When the other wedding guests run up, they see a terrible scene. Nine dead bodies.
The Epic of Gilgamesh (The Broken Epic)
We approach Gilgamesh, the Sumerian king, who dives to the bottom of the ocean for the plant of eternal life. What will he return with from his distant pilgrimage? Cathartic situations create a spark, the necessary intensity that allows us to gain insight into the inner world. Diving into unknown depths requires courage. But being courageous does not mean not being afraid. It becomes inevitable to search for what was in the beginning and in the process find passion but also the beauty of the ordinary, vibrating unrest, pleasure and death, humility and cohesion. An ancient epic broken in half. Quieter heroes emerge from the cracks. Sensitive hearts. Brave souls who fall deep to take off. The performance is recommended for audiences 15+. It also warns viewers that the performance uses a strobe light and loud music.
