"Anything that is not absolutely impossible can be achieved if one is fully focused on it and is determined to do it." (Nicholas Winton) In 1938, Nicholas Winton was a young, not even thirty-year-old, successful man working in finance and living a life appropriate to his age. In December of that year, Nicholas was going on holiday to the Swiss Alps, but his friend Martin Blake, a member of the British Committee for Refugees from Czechoslovakia, asked him to come and see Prague instead of skiing.

Symphonity + Dogma Art + Iron Maiden Brno

31/10/25, 18:00 / Společenské centrum Bystrc

Symphonity is a Czech band originally from Brno with a Swedish singer and over the past five years, despite the forced Covid break, they have played 4 foreign tours – 3 European and one across the British Isles. In addition, they have, for example, a headliner position, i.e. the main band, at a metal festival in Birmingham, England. Despite this, not much is known or written about it in our country, we can only guess why this is the case. In any case, it looks like we can start to be proud that even Czech, or rather Moravian, musicians can stand up to foreign competition.

Monty Python´s Spamalot

02/11/25, 18:00 / Hudební scéna Městského divadla Brno (Music Theatre)

Who doesn't know the legendary warrior King Arthur? And the mythical castle of Camelot, where the Knights of the Round Table gathered to unite a divided Britain and fight against enemies and finally set out together to find the Holy Grail? We all know this legend. But perhaps the reality was a little different… The comedy group Monty Python was formed in an Indian restaurant in Hampstead, London, in May 1969, when five Britons and one American decided to join forces and create a comedy series for the BBC. Thus was born Monty Python's Flying Circus, a series full of sketches, absurd situations and supremely British humor; it aired for 4 seasons from 1969-1974 and has a total of 45 episodes. In addition to live shows, the "Pythons" then ventured into feature films, among others, the most famous of which are The Meaning of Life (1983), Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979) and Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1974).

Folk Team a hosté Jarek Nohavica, Roman Dragoun

02/11/25, 19:00 / Mahen Theatre

or Team of Folk Seventies

We started in the seventies and we are still here in the seventies… The founders and protagonists of Folk Team will celebrate their seventies in 2025. The band was formed in 1973, founded by Roman Venclovský, Pavel Kopřiva and Tomáš Úlehla. In the pre-revolutionary period, they played folk in an acoustic "garb" using violin, flute and cello, received two author's Ports and became a sought-after group, especially in clubs throughout the country. The band's distinguishing features are primarily the poetic lyrics of Ivan Huvar, who became a member of the band in 1980, and the expressive singing of Roman Venclovský and elaborate musical arrangements. After 1989, the band was electrified, rhythmic elements arrived, i.e. bass guitar and drums players, and the band shifted to folk rock in genre. The turning point in their work was the CD "Velký prachy" from 2000 and later "Nebudu" from 2012. Songs such as Skála, Nadčlověk, Opilej anděl became an integral part of the playlist of genre radios.

The two-act opera will initially introduce children to how such an opera works and then just start playing. Cascavel Maldita & Família Pádua kvarteto

05/11/25, 20:00 / Metro Music Bar

Brazilian popular music is a vast array of beautiful melodies that quickly get under your skin, while also being colored by fresh harmonies and rhythms. Experience an exceptional evening full of diverse Brazilian music at a double concert by the groups Cascavel Maldita and Família Pádua. The band CASCAVEL MALDITA will transport you to the 70s-90s of the twentieth century in the style of MPB (música popular brasileira), which combines modern musical elements with traditional rhythms. The members tend towards jazz and folkloric Latin American music, which is why they choose hits from the tropicalism period in the style of jazz-rock fusion or, for example, songs by Djavan, which are poetic, full of energy and groove. FAMÍLIA PADÚA KVARTETO is a renowned Brazilian musical group with more than 16 years of artistic career, led by the versatile multi-instrumentalist Antônio de Pádua – trumpeter, percussionist, cavaquinho and seven-string guitar player. He is accompanied by his wife, percussionist Roberta Karin, and their son, talented flutist João Vítor. They are joined in this quartet project by guitarist Gabriel Moraes. Together they form a unique musical family whose art combines tradition, innovation and emotional depth.
