Nutcracker
Why can't the whole world do without The Nutcracker at Christmas? Because Tchaikovsky's music, together with the Christmas story of little Klárka, will capture the heart of not only every little person at this time, but will also take adult viewers, parents and grandparents, back to their childhood. It is simply the ideal family Christmas title. For the sixth season, the NdB Ballet is presenting a magical and epic production from Montreal, Canada, with great success.
Mamma Mia!
Few musicals have caused a global sensation like the musical Mamma Mia!, which is full of immortal hits by the Swedish group ABBA. It belongs to the group of so-called jukebox musicals, where a new, original story is invented for existing songs, into which mostly well-known hits are inserted. The author of the script for this musical, Catherine Johnson, did an excellent job of this procedure, which is not often met with enthusiastic reception. The experienced British playwright managed to write an entertaining, captivating story, of which the well-known songs are an integral and natural part. The musical premiered in 1999 at London's Prince Edward Theatre, was nominated for four Laurence Olivier Awards and subsequently for five American Tony Awards when it was successfully performed on Broadway in 2001.

My Fair Lady
My Fair Lady, “the perfect musical,” as the work of composer Frederick Loew and librettist Alan Jay Lerner is often called, was based on the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. This is a well-known fact. The original comedy, with the ironic subtitle “a romantic play in five acts” by the Irish-born but, after Shakespeare, the most important English playwright, was written in 1912 and only two years later, after having appeared on stages in Vienna, Berlin and Prague, was staged in London, where its plot takes place. The play caused a stir on the stage with the previously unheard-of juicy curse “bloody arse” (“fucked ass,” in Ota Ornest’s Czech translation “rotten ass”). In the Brno version, which entered the history of Czech theatre with the epithet "from Zelňák" in 1999, the unforgettable exclamation was heard: "Suck your rotten ass!", 340 times! First at the Drama Stage and then at the Bishop's Court.

Velvet Suicide: SHALLOW WAVES (CAN)
Canadian Shallow Waves transform post-punk into a dark, industrially pulsating organism that sounds as menacing as it is seductive. Their latest work confirms a significant departure from the established boundaries of the previously pure post-punk band. The Toronto trio draws inspiration from contemporaries like The Soft Moon (rip) and Model/Actriz, while not abandoning the legacy of Killing Joke and Ministry.
Michal Prokop trio
The acoustic trio of Michal Prokop (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Luboš Andršt (guitar) and Jan Hrubý (violin) has been playing since 1987 as a loose association of three prominent figures of the Czech music scene with a fixed repertoire, in which, in addition to perfect harmony, improvisation has always had great importance. During Luboš Andršt's long-term health indisposition and subsequent death, his place was taken by Andršt's and Prokop's close collaborator, guitarist Pavel Marcel, as in Prokop's "big band" Framus Five. Although the trio's repertoire has logically taken on a somewhat different form with the new member, the chemistry between the three musicians is of the same kind and the predominantly club concerts to which the trio gives are as powerful an experience as ever.

King Roger
Two worldviews, one border between them – one embodies reason and light, the other is elemental, dark and irrational. One night, a charismatic shepherd arrives at the Christian court of King Roger, disrupting the established order of Christian values and worldview. Does his teaching bring joy and goodness or only destruction and chaos? The opera King Roger by Polish composer Karol Szymanowski does not offer a clear answer; he himself described it as a mystery whose theme is man’s self-knowledge, his sexuality and spirituality.

Bandleader Zdeněk Denis Blažek returned from emigration in 1992 and, together with the excellent drummer Petr Kudibal, put together a Brno line-up playing jazz-rock and Latin. MB recorded several songs for the Brno Radio in 1991, even with several original members from Canada - they were guitarist Freddy Rizk, a student of the great jazz guitar player Joe Passe, and vibraphonist, bassist and excellent arranger Eval Manigat (+2008).
FVLCRVM: Eest Tour
Slovak producer, singer and audiovisual magician FVLCRVM releases his debut album Eest and goes on tour. He will perform a new AV show at the Kabinet MÚZ – genre-neutral, moody and visually captivating. Boredom is forbidden. “I enjoy everything, lots of things, sounds and moods – and everything only for a moment – that’s why we designed the show so that it wouldn’t be boring for a second. Not even for me!” invites FVLCRVM to a concert. FVLCRVM blurs the lines between pop and underground, combining the playfulness and authenticity of live concerts with the energy of club nights. Euphoric melodies, fast tempos and ecstatic climaxes – all of this has its place. He successfully uses his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, DJ and motion designer in his own hand-made visuals that complement the musical component.

Originally, we wanted to choose the club where we have historically played the most times (albeit at the original address), which is Melodka. However, Melodka eventually fell into temporary limbo, so the event is moving to the no less amazing Kabinet MÚZ. And who have we invited as accomplices? Well, the bands with whom we have historically appeared at joint events the most times - THE DESPERATE MIND, LORD SKULL and BEACH BUM. But celebrating our ten-year existence is not the only reason why this already smells like a legendary party. So, come and see us! More info soon.

AFTERNOON CHRISTMAS CONCERT - CZECH PHILHARMONIC CHOIR BRNO (ČFSB)
AFTERNOON CHRISTMAS CONCERT Czech and Moravian Christmas Carols Jakub Jan Ryba: Czech Christmas Mass "Hey, Master!" Pavlína Švestková soprano, Marie Vrbová alto, Jan Kožnar tenor, Václav Jeřábek bass Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, choirmaster Petr Fiala Camerata moravica, conductor Joel Hána
Czech and Moravian Christmas Mass
Performed in the Czech original with Czech and English subtitles. Concert duration: 2 hours, 1 intermission Concert performance. Affectionately nicknamed Rybovka, it was created in 1796 and is by the Czech composer Jakub Jan Ryba, who also wrote his own Czech text for the mass. Although Ryba respected parts of the Latin musical mass, he actually created a pastoral play about the announcement of Christ's birth and the arrival of the shepherds to the manger, which, thanks to its fresh and joyful melodies, became immediately popular and even today, more than two hundred years after its creation, is an integral part of the Christmas season. However, Ryba's Mass was not the only one at the time of its creation; one of its predecessors is the charming work of the Moravian cantor Josef Schreier, Missa pastoralis in C boemica, also known as the Moravian Christmas Mass "Listen, Miko, listen!", which was created around 1755. Schreier's Mass is actually a series of small pastorals that humorously mix Latin text with texts in the Wallachian dialect. Its musical style is based largely on Moravian folk music of the late Baroque period, making it an interesting counterpart to Ryba's classicist Mass.
