Udi Shlomo, a drummer, composer and arranger with family roots in Iraq, Poland and the former Czechoslovakia, was born in the Israeli kibbutz Nahshon, but has been living and working in Trondheim, Norway, since 2010. This diverse cultural mosaic is clearly reflected in his music. In his original compositions, he draws on personal memories, stories and images from his childhood on the kibbutz, which he intertwines with new arrangements of traditional Jewish music. The result is a unique synthesis of influences that falls under the heading of world jazz and oscillates between nostalgia, experimentation and free improvisation.
