Jana Janků: The Royal Harp

History, social role and charm of different types of harps. There will be demonstrations of the Gothic, Italian three-row, Spanish cross and folk Nechanice ("Czech") harp, accompanied by singing. You will learn how the harp became a fashionable instrument of royal courts and how Czech harpists spread music throughout Europe and overseas. The lecture will be complemented by live musical demonstrations.
