Brno-born pianist and Director General of the Czech Philharmonic, David Mareček, is appearing together with cellist Václav Petr on a concert tour in South Korea. During the first week of November, the duo is presenting Czech repertoire on prestigious stages, including the Seogwipo Arts Center, Yongin Poeun Art Hall and Daegu Concert House.
The South Korean city of Daegu, with its two million inhabitants, is – like Brno – a member of UNESCO’s international Creative Cities of Music Network. The city boasts a long musical tradition, strong support for young performers and a vibrant cultural scene with major institutions such as the Daegu Concert House. On the occasion of the concert, the artists met in person with Inkie Kim, representative of the local UNESCO City of Music, to discuss further developing cooperation within the network.

The concert in Daegu features works by Josef Suk, Leoš Janáček, Antonín Dvořák, Claude Debussy and Igor Stravinsky, offering a colourful cross-section of Czech and international music.
The tour, which runs from 1 to 8 November 2025, is an important showcase of Brno’s and Czech musical culture on the international stage and further strengthens the ties between UNESCO Cities of Music.
