Yesterday's vote by the JAMU Academic Senate has appointed the current Dean, Prof. Barbara Maria Willi, Ph.D., MBA, as the next Rector of JAMU for the period 2026-2030. She won out against doc. Mgr. Petr Francán from the JAMU Theatre Faculty.
Prof. Barbara Maria Willi, Ph.D., MBA is a harpsichordist and soloist on the hammered dulcimer, living in Brno. Barbara Maria Willi founded the harpsichord class at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno and since 2014 has been the head of the Department of Organ and Historical Performance.
Her work also includes the dramaturgy for the Concentus Moraviae festival (and she is currently preparing the latest edition). Thanks to her efforts, Concentus Moraviae has become the biennial of early music with the largest number of concerts on authentic instruments in Central Europe. Since 2014 she has also been responsible for staging the Bach Organ Autumn Festival. Together with the C.E.M.A. agency, she founded a successful series of early music concerts in Brno under the name Barbara Maria Willi Presents.
