The F SCENE 2025 Folklore Festival will commence its 28th year this year. As per tradition, it will take place in the Bishop's Courtyard, and is organised by the Jánošík Folklore Association.
This year's F SCENE will include three folklore evenings at the Bishop’s Courtyard. The festival will culminate with the Saturday programme entitled "Like Father, Like Son". FS Javořina drew the theme for the dance block called RECRUITS from the surroundings of Horní Bečva, i.e. from the wider ethnographic zone between eastern Wallachia, Lachia and Kysuce in Slovakia. It presents a sample of recruitment entertainment, where the boys' boisterous merriment, their mutual teasing, and the sadness of the girls before the boys leave for military service all intertwine. Choreographer: Josef Mikulenka, while the musical arrangement was provided by Bohumil Faltus and Drahomíra Klimková.
The Vlčnovjan folklore group from Vlčnov with the Čardáš cimbalom group invite you to the Ride of the Kings, a tradition maintained for centuries and passed down from generation to generation, from fathers to sons, and has even been inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2011.
The programme will also feature the Kmotričky singers, a unique ensemble of friends united by their passion for the stage adaptation of folk songs. For their work, they use archival materials from various regions of Moravia, Slovakia, Bohemia, Poland, Hungary and Romania. They sing without instrumental backing or accompanied by archaic and newer musical instruments.
The last participant on Saturday evening will be Folklore Ensemble Púčik from the Slovak minority living in the Czech Republic, which belongs to the large family of folklorists and custodians of folk traditions.
F SCENE will take place from 24 to 26 July 2025 at the Bishop's Courtyard.
