The Bishop’s Courtyard will once again become the venue for dance performances this summer, connecting three generations of dancers in a unique project. For the first time, three dimensions of ballet will be presented here, with the performance by dancers from the Ballet NdB 3 project accompanied by pianist Ivo Kahánek. The programme will also be complemented by guests from the Prague-based 420PEOPLE group with a live rock concert by the Please The Trees band.
The main Ballet NdB 1 ensemble will perform the magical choreography of Gnawa by Nacho Duato, taking the audience into a world of mystical rhythms and movements. His work Gnawa is a captivating spectacle accompanied by a musical expression typical of the North African region and the adjacent Mediterranean. The Ballet NdB 2 junior ensemble will dance Bára Rašková's Serenity, which evokes living sculptures. With this work, the choreographer seeks to offer the audience a unique opportunity to slow down and be swept away by the depth of the moment.
For the first time, the unique Ballet NdB 3 project, bringing together mature dancers after their professional careers, will also be presented to the public. It will present the choreography On the Overgrown Path by Mário Radačovský, which premièred at the prestigious EXPO 2025 exhibition in Osaka.
The performance by Ballet NdB 3 will be accompanied by exclusive guest Ivo Kahánek, who will play the beautiful piano piece by Leoš Janáček On the Overgrown Path in the Bishop’s Courtyard. The first performance is announced for tomorrow evening, 17 July 2025, from 8:15 p.m. at the Bishop’s Courtyard.
The Bishop's Courtyard will also be hosting guests from Prague - a dance show by the 420PEOPLE contemporary dance group combined with a live rock concert by the Please The Trees band called The Watcher. The Watcher will resonate with all those seeking answers to the question of how to cope with today’s frantic pace. Why are we almost unable to exist without a mobile signal and why does a signal outage drive us to the brink of madness? Why are the endless non-stop Google and Netflix our only friends in the middle of the night?
