In addition to his work with his primary band, Progres 2, Kluka has composed numerous songs and pieces of incidental music for Czech and Slovak theaters, as well as scores for film, documentaries, and television.
Marek Kozák
Luboš Fišer: Dreams and Waltzes
Béla Bartók: Romanian Dances, Op. 8a, BB 56
Igor Stravinsky: Valse pour les enfants
Igor Stravinsky: Tango
Frédéric Chopin: Mazurkas (selection)
Bedřich Smetana: Czech Dances, Sets I and II (selection)
Johann Sebastian Bach: Partita in B-flat major, BWV 825
Although the name Luboš Fišer (1935–1999) often brings to mind his film scores, he also garnered international acclaim as a composer of orchestral, choral, and chamber music. In addition to eight remarkable piano sonatas, he composed *Dreams and Waltzes* (1993) for the instrument; this work employs a postmodern approach, combining a Chopin-esque dreaminess with banal waltz melodies.

Les Misérables
A famous musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo
On February 13, 2009, one of the most renowned musicals of the 20th century premiered on the Musical Stage of the Brno City Theatre. Based on Victor Hugo’s famous 1862 novel *Les Misérables*, the story of the escaped convict Jean Valjean captured the hearts of audiences—and not just in Brno—during a run of more than 130 performances, while Petr Gazdík won the prestigious Thalia Award for his portrayal of the lead role.
Šárka – 1888 version
"Roots" is the theme of the festival’s 10th edition, and the premiere performance by the Brno-based ensemble focuses precisely on this concept. Through a site-specific production at the Besední dům—a venue inextricably linked to Janáček’s role in Brno’s cultural life—we will return to the very beginnings of the Maestro’s operatic output.
The opera *Šárka* exists in two forms: the 1887 version, which Janáček completed only as a piano reduction, and the revised, fully orchestrated version from 1925. While both versions will be presented at the festival, director Jiří Heřman has chosen the original 1887 form for his project; this allows him to immerse the audience within the Besední dům in the midst of the dramatic clash between men and women—a conflict that culminates in tragedy. The piano part will be performed by the outstanding British pianist Julius Drake, an artist well known to festival audiences from previous years as a brilliant interpreter of Janáček’s music.
The Makropulos Affair
Immortality is a curse.
The story of the singer Emilia Marty, who has lived for over three hundred years thanks to an elixir of life… A glimpse into the eccentric world of opera divas, degenerate nobility, and shallow petty bourgeois. In February 2017, the Janáček Opera presented this production at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. It was created in co-production with the Gothenburg Opera.
Boris (JPN, performing Pink) + Planning For Burial (USA)
The legendary Japanese band Boris boasts a career spanning over 30 years, establishing them as one of the most progressive, heavy, and innovative acts in experimental music. Formed in 1992, the lineup of Takeshi, Wata, and Atsuo has played together continuously since 1996. The band has an extensive discography—with releases on labels such as Southern Lord, Sacred Bones, Hydra Head, Sargent House, and Relapse—and has collaborated with artists including Sunn O))), Melvins, Uniform, and noise master Merzbow. Boris transforms the classic proto-metal sounds of the 1970s into something entirely new and unique. Their work is hailed as a game-changer at the cutting edge of the global rock scene, and their influence is virtually boundless.

From the House of the Dead / Glagolitic Mass Festival Closing Gala
A unifying thread runs through all of Leoš Janáček’s compositions: profound humanity and original form. This applies perhaps most strongly to his final two major works—the opera *From the House of the Dead* and the *Glagolitic Mass*. The former offers a concise glimpse into the souls of prisoners, while the latter provides a distinctive expression of faith set to an Old Church Slavonic text. The Janáček Brno 2022 festival saw a unique pairing of these works; presenting the *Glagolitic Mass* in a staged format as a continuation of *From the House of the Dead* imbues both pieces with a new message regarding the power of faith in humanity.
The prisoners live in the brutal conditions of a Siberian penal colony; behind every name lies a harrowing human destiny—misfortune and wickedness, yet also a spark of hope. Bit by bit, in brief vignettes, Leoš Janáček tells their stories in this singular final work. A brilliant creator and master of concision, Janáček captures the essence of humanity within a compact scope. Despite the grim conclusion, the score of *From the House of the Dead* begins with the inscription: "In every creature, a spark of God!" This idea links his final opera to the equally unique *Glagolitic Mass*. As Janáček himself put it: "Here, I wanted to capture faith in the nation’s certainty—not on a religious foundation, but on a strong moral one that calls upon God as a witness."

YOUNG BLOOD or MUSIC CLOSE UP I
The Brno Philharmonic Orchestral Academy is a project that enables talented young musicians—students or recent graduates of music schools selected through an audition process—to gain orchestral experience within a professional ensemble. Through this initiative, the Philharmonic cultivates new generations of players who may one day join its ranks. The Academy has completed six seasons, and the results are already evident: some alumni have become members of our orchestra, while others regularly return to perform as guest players. The significance and value of this experience for the artistic growth of young musicians and for the future of the orchestra are thus indisputable.
MODESTEP LIVE
Following the huge success of last year’s first European tour in over a decade, Modestep returns in 2026 with its biggest European headline run ever, over 20 dates across one month, bringing the full force of the live show back across the continent. Fronted by founder Josh Friend alongside two new mysterious masked members, this new era of Modestep pushes the project into darker, heavier and more unpredictable territory while still keeping the unmistakable energy that made the name iconic in the first place.
Emerging from London in 2010, Modestep became one of the defining crossover acts in modern bass music with tracks such as Sunlight, Feel Good, To The Stars and Show Me A Sign. Across three studio albums, Evolution Theory, London Road and Give Up The Ghost, the band has continuously evolved its sound, blending dubstep, drum & bass, rock and electronic music into one chaotic live experience. The release of Give Up The Ghost marked a major new chapter for Modestep, earning widespread support across the bass music scene and helping introduce a new generation of fans to the project’s darker and heavier direction.
The 2026 European Tour promises a career-spanning set packed with classics, new material and the biggest production the band has ever brought to the stage.

VENTOFU TOUR: VENTOLIN & FVLCRVM
In the autumn of 2026, VENTOLIN and FVLCRVM—two prominent figures of the contemporary Czech and Slovak electronic music scenes—will join forces. Ventolin (real name David Doubek) is renowned for his energetic live shows driven by synthesizers, drum machines, and a distinctive performance style. He made a significant mark with albums such as *Totem* and *Vitajte*, as well as tracks like "Disco Science," "MHD," and "Když jedu z hub." FVLCRVM (aka Pišta Kráľovič) is a respected Slovak producer, vocalist, and DJ who seamlessly blends electronic music, pop, and club aesthetics; in 2025, he released his long-awaited debut album, *EEST*.
Their shared history goes back a long way—they toured together as early as 2009 with the bands Kazety and The Uniques, of which they were members at the time. Now, years later, they are reuniting on stage, this time as producers with their own unmistakable sounds. Visuals play a crucial role in both artists' performances, featuring special lighting effects, video projections, and elaborate stage design that adds a tangible, physical dimension to their music. And since such collaborations rarely stop at live shows, a joint release might well arrive even before the tour itself kicks off.
"Mám jednu ruku dlouhou," "Nad stádem koní," "František," "Tata," or "Krtek" – we all know the hit songs by the band Buty. Originally from Ostrava and inextricably linked to singer and guitarist Radek Pastrňák, the band has won the Czech Grammy (later known as the Anděl Award) several times and has also received Czech Lion awards for film scores. Come and enjoy a unique club performance by Buty at Brno’s Kabinet MÚZ!
Cann is celebrating 10 years on the scene.
Fans can look forward to the band and a unique setlist that will never be repeated. Cann will revisit their beginnings and look back on their "Sunday videos," while also performing their biggest hits—such as "Princezna," "Výjimečná," "Pro jednu na FB," and more.
Strings Take Center Stage
Brno Philharmonic
Conductor: Patrik Červák
Hosts: Kristýna Drášilová and Vítězslav Mikeš
Script and Direction: Kristýna Drášilová
We are already familiar with the orchestra—we know how powerful it can sound and why it needs a conductor to keep it all together. But what actually lies within? What instruments make up its colorful world? Who takes the lead, and who waits patiently for their big moment? And can an orchestral musician simply sit wherever they please?
The Family Subscription series takes you into the inner workings of the musical system known as the orchestra. Together, we will discover how the various sections interact, who sets the tempo, who carries the melody, and who builds tension in the background. We will learn that every instrument plays an indispensable role—and that even silence can be charged with anticipation.
This year, you don’t have to remain mere listeners! We invite you to join forces with our orchestra: young listeners can prepare alongside their teachers, while adults are encouraged to dust off their instruments. Let’s experience together that unique feeling of being part of an orchestra.

PUNKBRÜNN: Alpha Strategy + Degens + NO0100000!
Punk, sure, we all know what that is – ragged clothes covered in skulls and chains, rolling around in spilled beer to the sound of primitive music, bumming cigarettes at the train station, no future and no shower. Except, not quite.
Punk today isn't just about outright rejection, but also about actively striving for a better world. A world that won't go up in flames just yet. A world where sick old men don't get to make decisions about things they don't understand in the slightest. Where miserable billionaires don't have to flee into exile in the Cayman Islands and crash in helicopters. Where even insurance company CEOs die of natural causes, like choking on caviar. Where the most disadvantaged aren't forced to engage in activities they're clearly not cut out for, such as thinking or driving. A world where we don't have to educate silicon instead of children. Where freedom is more than just a name or an insult. Where there are more queers than guns. Where housing isn't provided by Hitler, healthcare by Putin, and everything else by Musk.
Yes, a better world is possible. And if not a better world, then better music, definitely!
Alpha Strategy
There's always got to be someone who first comes up with the idea that things could be different. Someone who bangs two rocks together, pours water over a few seeds, critiques the emperor's new clothes, puts on a pair of trousers, takes a seat on a bus, tells someone about their dream, asks their government to obey the law, or ventures beyond the familiar, into lands where lions roam.
Perhaps, following in the footsteps of Kryštof Harant of Polžice and Bezdružice or Dean Reed, they head east into barbarian territory, employ liquorice as a weapon of mass destruction in a tactical diversion, and deliver their message like Elvis from hell.
Following in the tradition of the Friday intellectual gatherings and the followers of philosopher Jan Patočka, they organise a local underground movement with international guests – philosophical symposia dedicated to deconstructing outdated ways of thinking and exploring new forms of musical expression for rock quartets, all disguised as investment strategy courses.
In various mouldy basements, here and elsewhere, at 190 BPM and 130 dB, everything is invariably smashed to atoms. Hopefully, there's still a beach beneath the paving stones – or at least a few earthworms and roots.
Degens
One possible response to the complexity of modern civilisation is a return to the days when everything was still right with the world – roughly the Palaeolithic era.
As their name suggests, Degens fight their battles with clubs and intend to build a primitive communal society on the ruins of late capitalism. Instead of drones and hacking, they opt for hand axes and flint; instead of artificial intelligence, woodland wisdom; and instead of Bitcoin, sharing.
They draw inspiration from so-called primitive cultures and individuals, with the exception of motorists. They've reinvented the wheel.
Until the techno-oligarchy is brought to its knees, they strengthen their community through peculiar rituals combining ancestor worship, deafening sweat baths, and the tenderising of veggie schnitzels.
At the centre of these ceremonies is a thoroughly unholy misuse of the toaca – a suspended wooden plank traditionally struck with mallets, here subjected to maniacal hammering and, in particularly intense moments, perhaps even used for human sacrifice.
N00100000!
Even these shy outsiders can no longer remain silent in the face of current developments. And so they've decided to take one of the most radical steps imaginable: after a decade and a half of existence, their instrumental band will cease to be instrumental.
Yes, their new song has lyrics!
And they've certainly taken the task seriously. In all their complexity, the lyrics offer a penetrating and intellectually brilliant analysis of the problem, carefully weighed and convincingly argued solutions, and a clear emotional appeal. They possess punch, depth, purity and – why hesitate to say it – beauty.
In their magnificent entirety, they go as follows:
“Fuck all fascists!”
We can barely contain our excitement about what has been created here, and we're convinced the Pulitzer Prize jury will feel the same.
Martin has been entrusted with the vocals, and those in the know are well aware that there's plenty to look forward to. Those C grades in music class weren't for nothing.
In fact, he prefers not to use a microphone, just to give someone else a fighting chance of winning a Grammy this year.
Mamma Mia!
A legendary musical
Few musicals have caused such a worldwide sensation as *Mamma Mia!*, a show packed with the timeless hits of the Swedish group ABBA. It belongs to the genre known as the "jukebox musical," in which a new, original story is created to incorporate—and showcase—already existing, well-known songs.
Music that kids love... and parents can actually stand!
In their more than ten years on the scene, the band Bombarďák has built a reputation as masters of the children's playlist—artists who don't talk down to their audience or dumb things down, knowing full well that even five-year-old listeners deserve quality.
It’s a children’s music phenomenon so good that you’ll end up listening to it yourself. "We’ve been playing for over a decade and we know kids are smart; above all, we want parents to have fun listening, too."
Bombarďák’s songs span a wide range of genres, featuring everything from folk, rock, and country to electronic styles like drum’n’bass and techno. And it’s not just some random experiment!
Look forward to clever humor, absurdly poetic lyrics, and catchy choruses that will stay stuck in your head for three days. Maybe even four.
Is Verdi’s famous *Nabucco* merely an opera about the longing for freedom? Jiří Heřman’s production offers a compelling perspective on the story of the Babylonian king and the Jewish people, centering on family relationships and King Nebuchadnezzar himself. Packed with magnificent choral sequences and stirring vocal parts, the opera has been one of the most popular titles in our repertoire for 35 years.
Singing Show: Bizarre vs. Art III.
The first two installments of this show were completely sold out, so we couldn't resist—we’re already preparing another unique, brand-new edition: BIZARRE VS. ART III! Can we take what we did last year and the year before to the next level? We think so! Things are already in full swing: we’re coordinating collaborations, dance routines, vocals, harmonies, props, costumes, and, of course, crazy gags. Come and enjoy it with us! We plan to knock your socks off once again! This time, the entire show is tied together by the themes of film, fairy tales, musicals, and chansons. We’ll present a spectacular mix of performances accompanied by professional pianist Martin Štěpánek—and, naturally, you can expect plenty of our signature "bizarre" flair! We promise an evening packed with superb vocal numbers that are sure to entertain you!

The Karel Vlach Orchestra with the Coro Piccolo children's choir
Founded by its conductor in 1939, the Karel Vlach Orchestra is the oldest big band in Europe. It is undoubtedly one of the most significant representatives of swing, jazz, dance, and popular music, having been active on the music scene continuously for 85 years.
The Christmas concert will feature the best-known Czech and international Christmas songs, including famous swing numbers from the repertoire of the legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra. The orchestra will be accompanied by the Coro Piccolo children's choir, whose rendition of Czech carols will infuse the concert with a wonderful Christmas atmosphere.
DANIELE DI BONAVENTURA & MARCELLO PEGHÌN: ELEGIACO
Daniele di Bonaventura – bandoneon
Marcello Peghìn – guitar
The musical encounter between Italian bandoneonist Daniele di Bonaventura and guitarist Marcello Peghìn within the *Elegiaco* project represents one of those rare moments when technical virtuosity yields to pure emotion. The title of the album—and the concert project as a whole—was not chosen at random; here, "elegiac" is not a synonym for despondency or depression, but rather for a noble melancholy, contemplation, and a profound serenity that feels almost like an act of rebellion in today’s fast-paced world.
At the heart of this collaboration lies a dialogue between two instruments that hold a unique place in both Italian and global musical traditions. In the hands of Daniele di Bonaventura, the bandoneon transcends its role as a mere symbol of Argentine tango. His playing captures a depth that is almost sacred—reminiscent of the organ—alongside a folk-like earthiness and a sense of lightness. Complementing di Bonaventura is Marcello Peghìn, a guitarist with a keen ear for tonal color; he does not use his instrument merely for standard accompaniment but treats it as a full-fledged partner, creating space for the bandoneon, enriching its timbres, and occasionally gently prompting it toward more dynamic passages.

The Prostitutes + Guest
The Prostitutes are a Czech indie rock band formed in Prague in 2004.
The group gained renown for a raw sound inspired by the British post-punk scene and for their energetic live performances. Their debut album, *Get Me Out Of Here* (2006), was a success; it won numerous domestic awards and helped them build a wider fan base. Their second album, *Hometown Zombies* (2009), was a major event in the music scene and remains highly regarded by successive generations of fans. Their third studio album was produced by Martin Glover—a member of Killing Joke and a collaborator with artists such as Paul McCartney, The Cult, and Depeche Mode. The band's most recent release is the site-specific album *Zum Passer* (2015), recorded in an abandoned hotel in the Ore Mountains. Their best-known tracks include "Sunshine," "Leave It Like It Is," and "Heart Of Stone." Although the band has undergone several lineup changes, it has always maintained its distinctive sound.
Nutcracker
The story of young Klárka, set on Christmas Eve, takes us first into the real world of lavish holiday celebrations and then into the realm of Klárka’s dreams. This version by Canadian choreographer Fernand Nault premiered in 1964 and has come to life every winter since, performed by Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal. Its highlights include a lively pace and a seamless flow of scenes, but above all, the spectacular set and costume design, which captivates children with its richness and vibrant colors. Join us in a magical world and let yourself be whisked away on a sleigh ride through a snowy landscape. Dance amidst the snowflakes until you reach the Kingdom of Sweets, where the King himself awaits to welcome you. On this fairy-tale journey, alongside the Nutcracker, you will encounter nearly a hundred different characters brought to life by soloists and members of the NdB Ballet, as well as students from the Brno Dance Conservatory and the I.
