The story of Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez reads like a modern musical fairy tale, in which uncompromising classical training meets the unbridled energy of Havana’s streets and a fateful intervention by a legend.

The Jazzchat is the natural evolution of the band Jazzycats, following about five years of gradual development, lineup changes, and repertoire shifts. Our ensemble consists of vocals/flute, saxophone/violin, and a rhythm section of piano, double bass, and drums; we primarily perform jazz standards from the 1920s through the 1970s. We frequently perform in clubs and on smaller festival stages, but we also enjoy what we call "gastro-jazz"—music perfectly suited for parties, celebrations, weddings, and similar events. We don’t insist that the audience watch us intently from the first note to the last; as long as people are having a good time, that’s all that matters.

The concert will feature a guest performance by the Tereza Svojtková Trio.
