A remarkable quintet from South Carolina, USA. Their music from the southeastern Sea Islands mixes playful songs, ecstatic screams and heartbreaking spirituals. They have become a symbol of the local Gullah community, whose roots come from West African traditions. The name of the band itself is a Gullah expression for "get funky". With their second album, Good Time, they won the Grammy award in 2020 for the best "regional roots album". Their music makes them passionate ambassadors of the local culture, keeping the African-American traditions of the coastal South alive today.
