Johnny Blue

New and original musical Johnny Blue takes its inspiration from the theme of Faust. Johnny Blue is a blind street singer who is seduced by the devil, here appearing in the form of a woman, Satana. In exchange for something so impalpable and uncertain as his soul, Satana offers Johnny the gift of sight. When he is singing in the street, Johnny has a happy life and his beloved Marie by his side, and seems to want for nothing. However, a childhood friend shows up who convinces Johnny to let him become his manager and get him into the world of show business. Johnny has a rare talent, you see, which many of the so-called friends he has around him could make a living off. In the shiny and gilded world he enters, Johnny loses touch with his original self. He becomes estranged from his beloved Marie and the more successful he becomes, the lonelier he gets. With the arrival of Satana, the situation gets even tougher and even though Johnny can finally see the world around him, he loses his soul completely. Fortunately, Marie is still there and she hasn´t forgotten her old love – it’s worth it for her to fight for it, or for him, even with hell itself… Apart from a new and up-to-date version of the famous Faust story, the musical also offers music by famous and experienced German producer and author Ralph Siegel whose songs have won the Eurovision international contest several times with various singers. The musical, directed by Stanislav Moša, will see its world premiere at Brno City Theatre.
