This year, 11 years have passed since the death of the popular singer Amy Winehouse († 23.7.2011), who recorded two brilliant albums Frank (2003) and Back to Black (2006) during her short career. After a year, the songs from both albums will come to life again on stage in front of the Czech audience, performed by a group of original musicians who performed and recorded with Amy, supplemented by rising star Bronte Shande.
The Czech premiere of Forever Amy took place in Prague after many postponements due to covid until the middle of summer 2022. However, those who waited could appreciate the high level of performance that celebrates the life and work of the iconic singer. That is why the organizers decided to present this musical experience to the audience in Moravia as well, namely in the premises of the top music hall Sono Centrum in Brno on September 7, 2023.
Bassist Dale Davis is the leader of the formation, which features the following line-up: Hawie Gondwe (guitar), Nathan Allen (drums), Ben Edwards (trumpet) and Jim Hunt (sax/flute). Their professional biographies are full of star names with whom these gentlemen had the opportunity to work - judge for yourself: Tina Turner, Paul Young, George Michael, Gnarls Barkley, Sinead O'Connor or Noel Gallagher.
The post of singer is occupied by Bronté Shande from Bristol, who is very close to Amy in speech and vocal abilities. During her musical career, she has also collected admirable collaborations, for example with the groups Oasis, Primal Scream or the singer Richard Ashcroft.
Forever Amy's show manages to sell out music halls all over Europe and is now heading to the Czech Republic again. What is its characteristic? It does not distract the audience with all kinds of effects, but concentrates on the excellent singing and music, which is why it is a worthy tribute and at the same time a very authentic performance, thanks to which the legend of Amy comes to life again on stage.
