The program of the concert by soprano Simona Šaturová and the Zemlinsky Quartet will feature the works of all four major classics of Czech music arranged for solo voice and string quartet. From Smetana's work, a selection from his Evening Songs and Marenka's aria Kdybych se sach such from the opera Prodaná věsta will be heard. Dvořák will be represented by a selection from the cycle of Love Songs and his most famous operatic aria The Moon in the Deep Sky from the opera Rusalka. From the works of Leoš Janáček, we will present a selection from his collection Moravian folk poetry in songs and Janáčk's String Quartet No. 3, or a congenial arrangement of his wind sextet Youth for String Quartet. The conclusion of one of his most charming operas, the coloratura Lamento Ariadne from his neo-madrigal opera briefcase of the same name, will be heard in the original French language version of Bohuslav Martinů's libretto by Georges Neveux.
