Antonin Dvorak
Piano Quintet in A major op. 81

Smetana's symphonic poem Vltava belongs to the global hits of classical music. As such, it has been heavily modified in the past. Probably the most famous of them is the composer's own version for four-handed piano. Far less well-known, but musically very interesting, is the arrangement by the prominent Czech violinist and pedagogue Jan Mařák for piano quintet, in which the work will be heard at today's concert. They will be complemented by Dvořák's famous Piano Quintet in A major op. 81 and the Piano Quintet of the composer, conductor and pianist Olli Mustonen from 2015, whose participation in this performance guarantees the complete authenticity of the interpretation.
