In his recital, one of our best concert pianists will present two virtuosic, rarely played compositions by Bedřich Smetana, which will be compared to two of Smetana's compositional role models, Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner. However, their compositions will not be heard in the best-known form of highly original authors of the end of the 19th century, but in transcriptions for piano. In the case of Richard Wagner, it is Liszt's paraphrase of the breathtaking music from the opera Tristan und Isolde, the same Liszt will also present himself with a concert paraphrase of the quartet from Verdi's opera Rigoletto. The evening is completed by a piano sonata by Oldřich F. Korte, a composition popular with many Czech and international pianists and generally considered one of the top sonatas of the second half of the 20th century.
