21/06/22, 19:30

Guitarist Lukáš Sommer is one of the greatest Czech talents in classical guitar. He did this recently at the famous Carnegie Hall and will confirm this at a concert as part of the festival series "Ibérica Clásica".
Lukáš Sommer (born 1984 in České Budějovice) is a leading figure of the young composer generation. He graduated from the Conservatory in České Budějovice, the Prague Conservatory and HAMU. He is fully dedicated to his own work and concert activities. His work is based on the tradition of the European school of composition, which he enriches with ingredients of non-traditional composition methods. He likes to go beyond classical music and try to combine the influences of ethnic, jazz and classical music. He likes to be influenced by the "mood" of the audience and always creates the concert program as a comprehensive experience according to the place, often with elements of improvisation and dialogue with the audience.
He is the author of important orchestral compositions that have been successfully performed in our country and abroad. The focus of his work is chamber music, often commissioned by leading performers such as the Epoque Quartet, Sedláček Quartet, the Prague Guitar Quartet or the Virginia Tech Percussion Ensemble. Since 2015, Sommer has also created several large vocal compositions to order opera and vocal ensembles - Prague Singers, Prague Philharmonic Choir, Opera Studio Prague, Opera Diversa. He wrote his compositions for the Prague Spring, Opera Barga, Festival delle Nazioni, Concerto Bohemia, Concentus Moraviae, Chicago Latin American Festival, Hudba Znojmo and others.
He collaborates with leading Czech and international artists such as British conductor and oboist Sir Nicholas Daniel, French flutist Carlo Jans, British-Australian conductor Jessica Cottis, wind section director at Colorado State University Rebecca Phillips, pianist Gaia Sokoli and others. Czech artists include violinist Pavel Šporcl, harpist Jana Boušková, oboist Vilém Veverka. As a composer, he has collaborated with the Košice Philharmonic, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Cameristi di Fiorentina, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Philharmonic, the Sedunum String Orchestra, and the Civitas Ensemble, Solaris 3, Colorado Chamber Winds, C´mon Ensemble and Epoque Quartet.
