The ensemble in residence, the Pavel Haas Quartet, has chosen a Czech program full of contrasts for the second of its festival performances: Bohuslav Martinů’s third quartet portrays the sense of life of modern people in a European metropolis, Janáček’s first quartetdepicts the tragedy of a failed marital relationship and Dvořák’sAmerican is the most relaxed of his large quartet repertoire.
