Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet No. 6 B flat major Op. 18/6
Franz Schubert: Quartet Movement C minor D 703
Antonín Dvořák: String Quartet No. 12 F major Op. 96 “American”

The whimsical change of moods in Beethoven’s quartet culminates in the melancholy last movement. The twenty-year-old Schubert managed to capture the desired idea of human happiness fragilely arching over the sorrowfulsurge of fate in the first movement of his unfinished quartet. As a contrast to both works about tears and peril, the French Modigliani Quartet will then perform the most famous quartet by Antonín Dvořák, who loved life and managed to be grateful for it.
