Bedřich Smetana: String Quartet No. 1 E minor “From My Life”

Antonín Dvořák’s whimsical idea to combine a viola with a teacher-and-pupil violin duet gave rise to a work which is a pearl of both the Czech and international string trio repertoires. The Škampa Quartet will also play a work by its former lead violin, Pavel Fischer, inspired by Moravian folklore between this work and Smetana’s sincere quartet biography in the grand salon at the Lysice Chateau.
