This year, the Hungarian Kodály String Quartet will celebrate a remarkable fifty years from its establishment. It will perform two works at the Rájec Chateau, in which the composers went as far in their personal expression astheir genius and the spirit of the age would allow. Béla Bártok’s Fourth Quartet is full of barbarian energy and the instrumental brilliance of Hungarian folklore, while Beethoven himself considered his fourteenth quartet to be his most fundamental.
