The Painted Hall at the Milotice Chateau is the ideal venue for a performance of Viktor Kalabis’ fifth quartet, which was inspired by the artistic ideas of Mark Chagall. In contrast with this, the focal point for Beethoven’s first quartet is the tragic adagio, which is associated with Shakespeare’s scene in Juliet’s tomb.
