Program:
Alexander Borodin: String Quartet No. 2 D major
Ludwig van Beethoven: Quintet C major Op. 29 for two violins, two violas and cello

Alexander Borodin wrote two string quartets and the slow section of the second of them has become one of the best known melodies in the quartet repertoire. The excellent Josef Špaček on the viola will join the players of the Bennewitz Quartet in playing Beethoven’s C major string quintet, which moves from the inconspicuous and seemingly inexpertly written first movement through to its brilliant finale.
