Fado tradicional
Fado tradicional is a peculiar and unique musical style, developed and practiced to this day primarily by and for the common people far from all commercial concessions. Improvisation plays a crucial role and artists and audience alike collectively summon the saudade, the emotion that traditional fado has called its own throughout the past two centuries. One could loosely translate saudade as an intense desire towards something that we think we once owned or where we once lived, perfectly aware that it is just an illusion, as well as the idea that this desire could be strong and potent enough to actually feel its physical presence, which in its turn can even transform everyday life.
