The music of the two greatest authorities of Italian music of the 17th century and their followers – the conductor of the Venetian Saint Mark’s Basilica, Claudio Monteverdi, and the founder of the Neapolitan school, Alessandro Scarlatti – will be presented by the famous children’s choir Kantiléna. The two entirely different cultural traditions and the two contrasting worlds present the musical centres of Venetia and Naples. However, without any one of these worlds we could not imagine the history of European music.

Program:

Claudio Monteverdi: O beatae viae

Domenico Scarlatti: Salve Regina

Alessandro Scarlatti: Stabat mater
