In January 2020, four musicians came together for an impromptu session in Berlin-Neukölln. Each of
them had been invited successively by Jeff Özdemir in the months before to contribute to his latest
record series. Now, for the first time, the four are making music together with a rapport that is
nothing short of a miracle: From the first beat, the small, packed venue is permeated by a sound that
dissolves the distance between musicians and audience. Overwhelmed by the emotional experience
and positive vibes of this inaugural performance, the quartet has since been exploring the
exhilarating interplay of their different musical languages: Funk, Synth Pop, Post Rock, Anatolian
Psych, Soul, Bavarian Traditionals, Hip-Hop.
Akin to Free Jazz, Feed LA is all about intimate, unmediated musical encounters that impact
audiences in complex and nuanced ways.
The impromptu compositions of their debut maxi Hikaye, released at the end of 2020, were created
in the moment. So, too, Cihangir, the A-side of the single released in early 2022, composed during an
intense session and then condensed to the length of a 7".
The single’s flipside, Feed Lala, captures the live feel of Feed LA: Moving beyond catchy motifs, the
listener is immersed in a musical narrative that for all the individual creativity of each musician
comes across as quite effortless whole.
Feed LA is Özgür Bayraktar – keyboards, Daniel Ray Gahn – drums, Jeff Özdemir – bass, vocals,
Michael Treetop Voß – trumpet, vocals.
