Martin Kratochvíl and Jazz Q
Jazz Q has in the history of Czech jazz and rock extraordinary position: in the years 1970-1983 he released seven albums, not just praised by reviewers, but often commercially successful. Jazz Q was founded by Martin Kratochvil and Jiří Stivín, influenced mostly by free jazz, though genre of band's repertoire varied. Although the group had performed throughout Europe and received numerous awards, no album was released. Diversity of presented songs, however, was an indicator of the internal contradictions within the group; after Stivín left, the influence of Martin Kratochvíl was dominant. First sound after deprature of Jiří Stivín can be found on rock-influenced, but still clearly a jazz album Pozorovatelna.
