Dutch jazz guitarist, composer and educator Jesse van Ruller comes from Amsterdam. In 1995, as the first European, won the prestigious Thelonious Monk award it is surprising that after this historic success his career didn't get into intense rotations. His bebop fundament and apparent reluctance to fight with the competitive environment in New York put him among the hidden treasures of music, in recent years, however, he's wide open to all genres. He's known as a guitar poet He is able to combine lyrical approach with intensive approach, he's got a great sound and he can tell beautifully structured stories. He graduated with honors from the Conservatory Hilversum where he studied under Dutch guitar legend Wim Overgaauw.  As himself in more than one interview revealed, "John Scofield is a guitarist, which I always listened and I never get bored by. At certain times I have dealt with the play of Pat Martino, George Benson, Peter Bernstein, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny Jim Hall, but I never did not copy them literally. " Inspirations from the best sources blended into the van Ruller's specific sound and his approach to improvisation.
