WHITNEY K (CAN)
Whitney K is dedicated touring musician and songwriter Konner Whitney. Originally from Whitehorse Yukon but has spent time in Vancouver, Montreal, Burnaby and Los Angeles. You could meet this unusual character in 2016 thanks to the recording Goodnight, on which he captured the clash of illusory romance and modern escapism. The great album Two Years followed. With the help of main collaborator, friend and musician Josh Boguski, the work moved towards realism and reckoning with the truth. What used to be outsider-folk has become political poetry. Life in motion. The highway and a baritone voice that transforms the mundane into something extraordinary.
In 2022, Whitney K released the Hard To Be A God album on the Maple Death label, on which he was again accompanied by Joshua Boguski and multi-instrumentalist Avalon Tassonyi. If only we knew how hard it is to be a god. Whitney K delivers cutting edge poetry, hints and uses voice as an instrument. His masterful writing and word work, harmonies and arrangements dance in one direction and flow fully through the songs.
